Holika Holika’s Glamour Monkey Glamour Lip 3-Step Kit Review

By Ireviewuread

My crazy mask haul. A haul I did almost 2 years ago and finally I am reviewing the last of it's items here. In case you're wondering what in the world I am blabbering about, you can refer to my 2015 Althea Xmas Box post - my ultimate mask haul box! I know this is quite delayed but I'm cleaning up some of the old posts I have in my system - including this one - to make room for trendy ones :) Anyways, enough of my chitter, chattering time to dive right in to the review:

With all the 3 steps kits trending in Korea, I simply have to get my hands on one of them. Last time, I tried a 3 steps nose pore pack kit from Guardian, thus this time I'm going to try a lip kit.

Holika Holika's Glamour Monkey Glamour Lip 3-Step Kit

The kit I've chose have really nice pastel packaging and golden monkeys on it. As like many other consumers, I am so attracted to the Kawaii packaging and simplistic design. Now on to it's actual functions.

The Holika Holika's Golden Monkey Glamour Lip 3-step kit aims to treat chapped and dry lips. Besides that, it helps to make your lips more voluptuous. It's all about getting that Kylie Jennar lips right?

Anyways, although this product might be a little dated, my format is so advance. It's like I'm living in 2030 and reviewing a 2015 product. By so advance, I mean pinterest worthy. I have created this amazing chart with 3 columns to show you at which step, what the golden monkey glamour lip 3 step kit will look like and what the after effect of my lips turned out to be. It's magnificent! Below is the full description and review.

Step 0 - Naked lips

To ensure a fair review of the product, I cleansed of the dirt, and other lip product. Straight forward enough.

Step 1 - Lip Peeling Pack

The first thing to note is, do not just apply this step like a mask. Although it looks like a lip, it should be used as a exfoliating pad as mentioned in the directions -

Directions for Step 1 Exfoliating pad to clean lips and gently massage dull skin depending on your lip sensitivity.

If you were to use the exfoliating pad like a mask, your lips will tingle and at this stage tingling is not ideal. Plus it will leave a slight white residue on your lips.

What I like about the exfoliating pack is the fact that it have a minimal smell to it and it's not coarse. After usage, my lips looked cleaner and maybe a bit whiter than before - maybe it's because of the light but let's not rule anything out.

Step 2 - Volume Lip Pack

Resting comfortably in between 2 hard plastics and a protector paper - I forgot if there's a mash in the middle - is this thin jelly like transparent pink lip mask. It's gel-like and reminds me of Etude House's Cherry Lip Gel Patch. Although it looks transparent on my lips, I assure you there's a hint of pink to it's transparency.

In case you're wondering what does this jelly taste like, it taste sweet and bitter at the same time. Please do not imitate, licking it is not advisable.

Upon application, it felt very cooling. Since it was in gel form, it does slide down if you sat upright with the mask on. This is the best excuse for you to lay down, rest your mind and let the world float around you for 15 minutes.

Directions for Step 2

Hydro gel mask to your lips and remove it after 15 minutes. Then gently dab lip area to absorb remaining residue.

After removal, my lips did looked red and slightly plumper. It felt as if I had a pink balm on especially at the lighter parts of my lips. Oddly enough this voluptuous step did not sting or numb my lips during the plumping process.

Step 3 - Honey Lip Essence

At last, the final step of this 3 steps short kit - the essence. As per expected from it's name, it is sticky like honey, it looks like honey, it feels like honey but oddly enough, it does not taste like honey. It's just tasteless. Then again, it's not pure honey and is an actual lip essence. I should really stop randomly tasting beauty products which could probably poison me.

Directions for Step 3

Honey treatment to the lips, specially to dry areas.

When I applied the honey lip essence, I was pleasantly intrigued by how warm it was. I don't know about you but I'm used to have most of my products and mask feel cool that when a warm product comes along it's a party.

Dramatic moment aside, I did notice a slight tingling session when I first apply this essence. I'm not sure that's because of the after effect which I was feeling from the volume lip pack from the previous step or because of the honey essence. Either ways, that sensation went away after awhile.

This temporary feature could also be applied to the honey's stickiness. After some time, the honey essence was absorbed and my lips don't feel sticky anymore. On the other hand, my lips looks very glossy and shiny. Instant gloss up!

Besides that, what I like about the Honey Lip Essence is it's longevity. Despite of it's miniature package, this is the only part of the kit which could be used more than once. Since the essence is mainly made of honey, it's better to transfer it to a small container or else it will randomly flow around in a plastic bag.

The Next Day

After I've fulfilled 8 hours of my beauty sleep, I woke up to a slightly numb, smooth and soft lips. This shows that the voluptuous effect of the effect could be last for over a long time if one do not temper with it. Plus, it did help protect and heal my dry and chapped lips.

All in all, I would give Holika Holika's Glamour Monkey Glamour Lip 3-Step Kit 4 IreviewUread smiles. It does fulfill it's claims of giving the user smooth, soft and voluptuous lips. Plus the effect could last over 8 hours. However, all these are rather temporary for they disappear the next day.
