Hey there,
This weather is actually amazing, you can not beat the feeling of sunshine and that heat hitting your skin. As I write today’s post, I am chilling on my boyfriends balcony, with a cuppa tea and a gorgeous view of the village.
We are off to Rhodes on Wednesday, (Our first holiday together), and it is bens first time abroad in 13 years, (I don’t know how he has coped). As you can imagine we are very excited, and of course I am very keen, my suitcase is already out, my clothes are ready to be packed and all the essentials purchased, (Ben still needs to go holiday shopping). We are staying a little outside of Rhodes Town, in a place called Ixia, (I think), the place looks beautiful, and there is so much to do and explore in the new and old town. So expect lots of pictures to be going up on Instagram (kkbrelsford), and Twitter (@beautybykaris), and of course a holiday update and look book on the blog.
Growing up my mom has drummed it in to me, (literally), how important it is to look after your skin. So I will be using a factor 30 for my holidays, with my go to SPF being Piz Buins allergy cream. A lot of people I know use oils, or lower factors than 10, and although the tan may be better on the first couple of days, (Or the burn shall I say), my tan tends to build gradually but nicely and actually lasts longer.
Instead of using a standard after sun cream, I prefer to use a rich, thick, extremely hydrating moisturiser,(Like a cocoa butter). On my last holiday to Ibiza I used Garniers 7 day moisturiser, and since then it has earned itself a permanent position in my Bodycare collection, I love it. This time I have opted for the Aloe Vera enriched cream, as we all know how amazing Aloe Vera is for our skin, especially in the sun.
Being a bleached blonde, it is just as important for me to look after my hair on holiday, (and although I would of loved to of tried Aveda’s sun care hair range), my budget made me go a little cheaper and I have opted for Herbal Essences’s color care shampoo and hydrating conditioner, (Do there products not just smell absolutely devine?). If it wasn’t for the 15 kg limit, I would probably have a little suitcase for just my products alone. And finally just to make sure we are smelling absolutely gorgeous I opted for a Berry infused Radox shower gel.
For the face I’m taking my Garnier day cream, Clarins eye cream, and my new product purchase the Nivea replenishing night cream, so keep an eye out for some post holiday reviews.
What are your holiday essentials? Have I missed anything? What SPF do you go for?
Lots of love,
KBxx
