Ahh, Penny! How could I do summer without you?
I remember getting my very first plastic skateboard when I was a small girl. It was a hand-me-down from my cousin, which I took home right before Christmas. A red Penny Original, slightly scratched yet immensely loved by my cousin as she took her to school every day for more than five years. If I’d still have it with me today after moving houses for ten times, it’d no doubt be one of the most treasured vintage items from my school years.
I think Santa must have heard how I was yearning for someone to return my red Penny! Well, I was told as a kid that seek and you shall receive, right?
My second Penny, again, turned up right in time for Christmas, is this what you call a happy coincidence? What’s even better is that my new toy, a red Penny Holiday 22″, came in vintage polka dots just like how plastic skateboards looked from the ‘good old days’ of milk bar, fairy floss and peanut butter sandwich. She brought back the exhilaration of cruising on on the roadside during those long summer holidays. And this is how I Penny on a 30C summer day in my bohemian inspired style… Bliss.
So Dear Reader, are you a Penny Girl? When was the last time you cruised? Show me your most skater-licious style by tagging #LNRlovesPenny on Instagram, Facebook or Twitter!
Now would you go kick, push and cruise this summer?
