When you think of a family that travels, you'll quite often get two images in your mind. The first is of a family that may be a little bit different. They like to travel and just hit the road when they can. They're somewhat old-fashioned and have hippy vibes about them. And then the second, they have money. They jet off here and there, they summer in a certain place, they fly first-class. But these two images are both very stereotypical and a bit archaic! Because these days, anybody can travel as much as they like. Yes, that's right, even you with your chaotic family and without five minutes spare - you can have a year filled with as much travel as you want too. You just have to think differently.
If you believe you have to holiday in France or go on city breaks or explore weird and wonderful locations to be someone that travels, then you're just assuming and you're holding yourself back. Instead, if you really want to travel more, you can make it happen quite easily. You just need to plan for it. Because we all have priorities. But if you want to make sure that you can travel more, then you need to ensure that you are making time for this, that you're saving money for this, and that you're actively trying to make it happen. Let's take a look at how.
Know Where You Want To Go
To begin with, you need to get serious about this. And this means that you need to know where you want to go. So think about the area in the UK and overseas that you'd love to see. Then look into options. From a house for rent to hotels, there are so many ways you can make this happen. But you need to look into what options you have first.
Create A Budget
When it comes to the money side of things, if you instantly say 'we can't afford it', then you're not trying hard enough. Because there's always room for improvement. So, do you budget already? If not, you're going to want to think about how you change all of that. You need to be sure that you're able to create a budget that allows you to spend on the essentials and the jig things around a little so you're able to move money into your brand new travel fund.
Make More Use Of Your Time
But the next thing you're going to want to do here, is to just make a lot more use of your time. Do you find yourself just staying in at weekends or doing the same kinds of things? Then this is time that you could quite easily be allocating towards travel and exploring more. Because, yes, you can quite easily plan days out for the weekend or in the week if you have the time available. Days out allow you to travel and explore locally more, and this all adds to your experience too.
Go And See Family
But then also, another really quick win here that can allow you to travel more, is to visit family around the country more often. Because it's the perfect excuse to go on a road trip and explore more of our beautiful country. It could be that you stay with them, in a cottage or B&B and then get to see lots of different areas or attractions over a few days or so. And this is a really simple way to be able to travel more.
Use Points, Offers, Discounts, And More
Another huge winner for you here, is to make sure that you're being smart about how you're traveling more. Collect points with your bank or if you have a credit card. Get cashback and look for deals online. Make sure that you're signed up for loyalty schemes and newsletters. Because the more intentional you are about looking for the best deals, the cheaper this will all become.
Save For The Biggie
But then also, for a lot of us, there is that one big, dream destination that we really want to be able to go to. Maybe it's to the Caribbean or it's somewhere in Asia? Either way, there's somewhere that you have in mind. And you may feel as if you could never afford it. But you can. Because as you've seen from the points above, it's much easier for you to make this happen than you think. So, you're going to want to believe you can, and then make it happen!
