Healthy Eating Tip 1 - Write It Down.

Remember me, I planned to be a much better blogger this year compared to last few months of 2013 but it hasn't turned out that way yet. I just don't have the same passion I used to have for it and I have no idea where I used to get the time to blog everyday as now I struggle to get a post up once a week. I am hoping this changes soon.

Anyway I have been jotting down ideas for healthy eat posts as quite a few of you including my "real life" friends have asked me to blog about how I have lost weight. I have been wanting to do this for a while but just didn't know where to start as there is just endless information and I'm learning new things about nutrition everyday.
So I have decided to a series of blog posts called Healthy Eat Tips. Each post will cover a tip on whats helped me on my journey and hopefully you can pick something up from it too.
A big thing for is writing down what I eat and I mean everything, drinks included. This way you can also track how much you are eating and what water you are drinking but also if you are wasting calories on fizzy drinks etc.
I use the app My Fitness Pal as I have mentioned before and this is my life saver. I also know weight watchers do an app if you are following that plan. I am sure there is loads of different weight loss apps you can use.
Even if you write down what you are eating in a diary it just makes you aware of what you are eating and how much. I used to often forget what I have had in a day, especially that odd bit of chocolate here and there and that's how I think the weight creeps on.


You also need to be honest with writing down, if I have a piece a cake or a bag of crisps I write it down. You are only fooling yourself by not. It is hard getting into the habit of it but now I don't even think about it and I also find writing down what I am eating helps me plan what I am going to have too.
 
Below is a screen shot of what my Fitness diary looks like today. I find the app so useful as you can scan the bar codes of food and it comes up with it. Also if you type in the restaurant you are going too, most of the time it has meals from the menus on there which makes eating out really easy.
