Haus of Gloi New Year Delivery – 3 New Bubbling Scrubs and 1 Repurchase

By Blessmybag @blessmybag

I’ve raved about Haus of Gloi Vegan Bath and Body goods over and over again and now here I am yet AGAIN as I am smitten by my fave product in the range, their delightfully luxurious and soft bubbling scrubs.  The quaint home business is a bath and beauty brand birthed by a lovely vegan couple in Portland, Oregon, Matt and Britton.  They concoct natural and foodie fragrances and textures for the purpose of cleansing, smelling, and smoothing.  Haus of Gloi also takes pride in their specialty, limited edition seasonal scent releases that always sell out pretty fast the moment stocks go live on their website here.  Right now they have their Valentine’s Day collection online, but I’m too well stocked to order any more.

They sell out quick but it’s not as much of an impossibility to place an order with them as it is to get a Naked or Naked2 palette from the Urban Decay website.  This delivery is my fourth purchase of Bubbling Scrubs from them (in the same box as Mom’s 6 orders of their ltd. Peppermint Cocoa whipped soaps) ever since I discovered “the Haus” and these are perfect to tell you about before January ends (yes, it flew by didn’t it) since 2012′s kickoff for beauty is pretty much all about CLEAN.

I purchased 3 new scents that I’ve never tried: Three Treasures (Yuletide 2011), Litchi Milk Tea (Permanent), and Honey Tree (Permanent).

HONEY TREE“Quite rich! Right from the bee hive – honey amplified by seductive essence of resinous vanilla, darkened by a passing waft of mild rare wood smoke.”  I SAY:  Honey Tree is slightly strong and masculine and not sickeningly sweet as the name implies, there’s a smokiness that cuts through the honey, it’s quite adventurous but I love it.

THREE TREASURES – “Sacred gifts of frankincense, myrrh and gold. Smouldering with warmth and brightened with a touch of mandarin rind.”  I SAY:  This one is a bit strange at first, there’s a bitter spiciness followed by a hit of bright citrus, it’s not my favorite but I still have to see how the scent gives off via skin.

LITCHI MILK TEA – “Tart lychee fruit and black tea met with a splash of coconut milk.“  I SAY:  It’s a creamy playful mix and kind of like an east meets west type of scent.  The lychee makes it fragrant and the coconut milk binds the whole scent together with a milky waft of the tropics.

I did make one repurchase in addition to those 3 new scents.  My fluffy white Elevenses Bubbling Scrub quickly disappeared within a week or two of using it the first time.  Thus far, it’s my favorite comfort scent and helps me to imagine living amongst admirable Hobbits sipping dark tea while stuffing themselves with cake by a warm fireside.

ELEVENSES“Not quite breakfast and not quite lunch, its the little snack in between. Bring out the old cracked china! Tiny, little, fluffy orange cakes, sugar coated toasty almonds and a wee steaming cup of black tea!”

One of the obvious secrets of Haus of Gloi’s small business success is, apart from the excellent products and great customer service, the creative labeling and beautiful composition of Britton’s signature scent descriptions.  While Matt receives orders and packs the boxes for shipment and delivers them by bike to the post office, Britton is busy designing, smelling, writing, creating scents, and mixing products to stock.  Bubbling scrubs cost US$3.50 for these small 2 oz. jars and $8.00 for full size 6 oz. jars.  If you’re from Manila and interested in ordering it’s simple since their site offers reception of payment either via Paypal or direct credit card.  Suggestion is have it sent to a Makati address since that city’s post office is the most honest and efficient, when it arrives you’ll receive a postal notice card and will pay Php40.00 in customs tax upon claiming.  You’ll have to be ready to wait 3-4 weeks for it but as you can see here I can assure you, they certainly do arrive and are a creative, hygienic delight for the olfactory senses.
