World Sight Day (WSD) is annually held on the second Thursday of October. This date has been set as the ideal day not only to emphasize the importance of getting regular eye tests to check our visual health but also to appreciate the work carried out by eye care professionals (opticians, ophthalmologists, eye doctors, etc.) in our society. An annual celebration whose main goal is to raise public awareness of visual impairments, such as blindness, among many other eye disorders, and even the rehabilitation of former visually impaired patients.

Approximately 80% of the information we get comes through our eyes.

In that sense, Essilor launches a campaign under the motto “Join in for a better vision” through the digital media (social networks and blogs), in which several messages aim to raise people’s awareness of the importance to visit specialized medical centers regularly. Because many people don’t know how visual impairment, no matter how mild it is, can affect our everyday life.
