This offering hails from an interesting trio from Canada. Comprised of Devon Portielje, Connor Molander and Dylan Phillips they range from the ages of 21-25 and play a myriad of instruments that include the usual keys, guitar and drums but also samplers to create ‘psychedelic arrangements and electronic-infused soundscapes’. Influenced by both classical and modern composers the trio have been together for a mere 3 years and have already been given backing by NME.

This song is ever changing, with beautiful vocal harmonies interspersed with acoustic guitar arpeggios, heavy drum beats, electronic textures and the odd electronic guitar added in. Opening with the acoustic guitar and sampler the track quickly gains the power of their gorgeous vocal and heavy drum beat. It’s a track that draws you in with it’s mix of almost plainsong esque vocal technique and amazing electro-acoustic, folk texture. I am completely rambling at this point but it’s a very difficult thing to describe.

The only thing I can advise is to listen to this track, again and again and don’t write it off as just any other piece of folky stuff that spouts out from over the pond. These guys are unique in the marrying together of the electronic and acoustic and they give you one of those intense happy feelings inside when you listen to their tracks.

Verdict: listen, download, share and love.
