Great Uses for a Combi Microwave Oven

I don't know about you, but a microwave is an absolute essential in our kitchen, and next time we upgrade, I will definitely be looking at Combi Microwave Ovens which allow you to do so much more!

We use ours on a daily basis for everything from defrosting bread and meat, quickly cooking frozen vegetables, zapping some baked beans for a quick meal or cooking microwavable rice packets (which are possibly the best invention in forever!) Sometimes even the odd indulgent chocolate mug cake! Microwaves are perfect for busy mums like me who are always on the go, and always need to get food on the table for the toddler, or re heat something for the husband when they get home from work!

With a combi oven, which has a grill and convection setting as well as the basics, it really expands what you can use it for. The convection oven setting allows you to cook meals like you would in a traditional oven but with markedly quicker cooking times, and the grill lets you brown and crisp things up too.

Here's our recipe for a super yummy and quick chocolate orange mug cake that you can cook in your combiner's microwave!

Great Uses for a Combi Microwave Oven

You will need:

What to do:

1 mug, 4tbsp SR flour, 4tbsp sugar, 2tbsp cocoa powder, 3tbsp full fat milk, 1 egg, 3 drops of orange essence and 3tbsp sunflower oil

Mix the flour, caster sugar and cocoa powder into to the largest mug you have. Add 1 egg and mix in as much as you can. Add the milk, sunflower oil and a few drops of orange essence and mix until smooth. Pop your mug in the middle of the microwave oven and cook on High for 1½ -2 mins, or until it has stopped rising and is firm to the touch!
