Everything has to end, just as the lovely Matt Smith so elegantly says. Unfortunately, I think this is going to be my ending. For the lovely followers who have so fatefully stuck with me this past year as I lagged in posting, went months without writing a review, and overall, just kind of sucked, I thank you.
It's been a long road, this whole blogging thing. I've met so many great people and been given so many great opportunities. Participating in this wonderful community of people has been such a blessing. I've made so many great friends, who I still talk with today, and met many of my favorite authors. Because of blogging, I have the best job a book lover could ask for. I've met David Levithan, Katherine Longshore, Andrea Cremer, Veronica Roth, Veronica Rossi, Tahareh Mafi, and so many others. So many of the wonderful and incredibly talented people who fill my day with fantastical stories, dreamy boys, perfect best friends, and everything in between. I'm sad to be leaving, but it will be such a weight off my shoulders.
I know that none of you will require an explanation, but I'd like to provide you with one anyways.
As you know, I'm a children's specialist for Books Inc. Because of this, my job requires me to read a wide range of children's lit. Picture books, chapter books, MG, YA, and everything in between are things I have to know inside and out. I find myself reading Dragon Slayer Academy, Knights of the Lunch Table, The Real Boy, and other non-YA titles on a regular basis. I know myr eaders don't much care for those titles and therefore, I don't review them. That means that I don't read enough YA to really dedicate time to a YA blog. Also, I haven't found that passion I once had for blogging. I find blogging a bit of a chore. When I spend my day selling books, sometimes I like to come home and just lounge around. I don't find the urge to write up a review.
Also, many of you know that I broke up with my long-term boyfriend in July. I dabbled in the dating world, but mostly I've been reconnecting with friends and making new ones. My social life has really expanded and I'm loving that. I'm loving that I have a group of people that I can unwind with at the end of a long day. I would rather spend time wit them than sit in front of a computer. I'm just at this point in my life. Blogging has lost the allure that it once had. I wish it weren't so, but it is.
Blogging became something that I felt like I had to do. I felt like my reading was on a deadline and I didn't have enough say in what I was reading. I didn't have enough of a choice. I know that that's not the way blogging has to be. I know that there's no one telling me how to run a blog. But that's just how it was for me.
I'm sad to say goodbye, but I'm still going to be on the Twitter. I'm going to stay in contact with everyone. I might even pick up the blogging again. I just needed to say my farewells. I was really feeling like a schmuck just leaving things in the air. I'm going to miss you all, and I'm going to keep in touch! I hope you all will too :)
