Glider Ks, Chippendale (kensington St)

By Takeeatfoodblog
Happy New Year everyone!!! 2015 was an extremely busy year, hence the lack of blog posts (sorry!!) but I'm alive from the nightmare of uni projects and I aim to be posting a lot more this year! Less classes = more time for food adventures! :)
My friend and I both discovered Glider KS at the same time through Instagram and we were both drawn to their beautiful ceramic cups and plates! As a design student, I am instantly drawn to anything that looks aesthetically pleasing. Glider KS is located among the new transformed Kensington St, Chippendale. It is located within the Spice Alley lane way just off Central Park. I was so amazed by the complete transformation of this little area and I can see it growing to be a hot spot for great eateries.
Glider KS resides in one of the 16 heritage- listed terrace houses on Kensington St. It has a minimalist design, from white tables, floors and walls to wooden chairs and exposed brick walls, it is definitely an Instagrammers heaven for the perfect #minimalist photo :P

Right: Iced Chai $5
The first thing that drew us to Glider KS was there beautiful ceramic cups and I remember saying to my friend "this is very photo worthy!" and it sure was! We both ordered cold drinks since it was such a hot day today. My friend ordered the iced coffee and I ordered the iced chai. I've never really drank much chai lattes or anything chai flavoured, so the taste of it was very unique to me and the consistency of the drink was quite watery. It was a satisfying drink in this hot weather.

Coconut sticky rice with strawberries and blueberries | $10
Since today was such a humid day, I wanted to eat something refreshing and light so I ordered the coconut sticky rice with berries. The sticky rice is not too sweet and is the perfect consistency- not too mushy/ sticky and not too hard. The berries were extremely fresh and not sour and complimented the sticky rice really well (I've seen on some other pictures that they put mango- depends on the day I guess). This dish was actually quite filling and very refreshing.

Avo Toast with feta, truffle honey & thai basil | $12
My friend ordered the avocado toast, at first I didn't realize it had so many different ingredients in it until I tried it. This toast has a combination of salty, sweet and spicy- my tastebuds were definitely confused! However, after awhile this dish really grows on you. And don't be deceived by the size of this dish.. it may look small but my friend was defeated by it and she eats a lot :P
PictureOverall, it was a very good dining experience at Glider KS, we were greeted by friendly staff the moment we stepped into the cafe. The food menu is that extensive but if you're looking for a decently priced and filling meal- look no further than Glider KS. I can see Glider KS producing more and more new, innovative dishes throughout 2016 and I can wait to go back and visit to try their other dishes!
Happy eating x
