I hope you guys are all having a great week.
For one of the last blog posts of the month of July, I figured that I would let you guys in on a little detail of last nights recap of the “Get On Up” movie featuring a documentary about the life of James Brown.
Growing up, I always listened to James Brown from time to time, but I never really knew too many details about his personal life, so going into this movie, I didn’t really know what to expect.
The movie included some of my favorite actors and actresses like Chadwick Boseman { who played James Brown in the movie }, Viola Davis, Octavia Spencer, and Josh Hopkins.
Chadwick Boseman couldn’t have played a better version of James Brown, he looked identical to Brown, and he sounded identical to Brown.
The movie was a full of stories of how James Brown rose from extreme poverty to eventually becoming one of the most influential musicians in history.
Some parts about Browns actual childhood life, you will be quite shocked to see, I know that I couldn’t really wrap my head around the certain events that actually occurred throughout his life. How someone actually lived through what James Brown endured during his childhood years, and came to have such a success that he did, really made me look at life in a whole different perspective, and really made me learn to value life for what it is.
Some of us are too busy on our cell phones, driving the day away on the road, or just partying our lives away, we don’t really realize how quickly life can come and go day by day.
Overall, would I see this movie again?
Yes, 100%, and to tell you the truth, I will buy this movie when it comes out.
Like I said, when I got out of the movie, and was driving home, I was kind of at “woaho” with myself because life now compared to what it was back then, is jaw-dropping to me. We have so much technology today, and the whole world around is just so commercialized, it’s insane.
Get On Up comes out in theatres August 1st!
