The Geospatial Data Architect/Analyst provides leadership in the architecture, design, administration and maintenance of the organization’s Enterprise Geodatabases. The position ensures the reliability and accessibility of the data to stakeholders and evaluates business needs of the organization in a way that links strategic frameworks to technical solutions.
Responsibilities
• Provides leadership and guidance for Data Architecture of the County’s Enterprise GIS
• Leads the design and implementation of GIS data architecture and provides recommendations as well as implements strategies to meet changing business needs
• Assists with the development of the GIS branch strategic and operation plans while focusing on quality and innovation to proactively respond to growth and emerging needs
• Keeps up to date with technology trends and products as well as researches, learns and adapts new technologies, industry standards and best practices
• Acts as the Geodatabase administrator and provides guidance and leadership to departments in the design, development and presentation of spatial data
• Maintains all ESRI ArcSDE enterprise Geodatabases including configuration and tuning, version upgrades, database security and access, ArcSDE compression and version management, ESRI replication and synchronization, and data backup and recovery
• Designs and develops quality assurance / quality control processes and procedures
• Mentors and coaches GIS users within the organization
• Assists with the translation of business requirements into technical and geospatial data requirements by working closely with Business Analysts, departments and clients
• Works collaboratively with Geospatial Application Analyst / GIS Architect in the design, development and maintenance of geospatial data models
• Delivers and maintains components of Geospatial Data Road mapping which involves a rolling 12-24 month roadmap of changes and innovations to the data environment
• Assists departments and clients in maximizing Geospatial technology by coordinating end-user training, as well as provides troubleshooting and support
Qualifications
• University Degree in GIS or Geography along with 7 years related experience in GIS OR a related two-year diploma in GIS along with 10 years related experience; experience in GIS must include at least 2 years of development and management of either an ArcSDE Enterprise Geodatabase or an ArcGIS for Server installation
• Strong leadership and project management skills; able to effectively plan and organize while balancing multiple priorities in a team oriented environment
• Proven interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills; ability to maintain professional working relationships and present ideas in a business-friendly language
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Extensive knowledge of the principles and practices of GIS, data architecture, spatial analysis and cartography
• Expert level knowledge of: ESRI Geodatabases, ArcGIS for Server, ArcGIS data models, & FME; proficient user of ESRI GIS Suite of tools including: ArcMap, ArcSDE, & ArcGIS for Server
• Strong working knowledge of relational databases; preference given to candidates who have experience with SQL Server
• Strong working knowledge of MS Office Productivity tools, MS Project, and MS Visio
• Business Analysis and/or Project Management training and experience as well as GISP Certification or ESRI Certification would be considered an asset
• Experience working in a Municipal/Government setting is prefered
The annual salary range for this permanent full time position is $83,957 to $104,941, working 35 hours per week.
