Fun Saturdays Vol.2

By Anupamapnb @divallista

Hey everyone!
I am a foodie and like eating healthy yet tasty food. I generally cook myself for everyone in my home. I like eating and making people eat my food. In today's Fun Saturday post, I'll tell you about 5 of my favorite indulgences that are fabulous, healthy and tasty to eat.

1. Oats

What better way to gain strength and energy to carry to carry you through a hectic morning schedule than with a steaming bowl of freshly cooked oatmeal. They are an excellent source of fiber and protein. I like to add some dry fruits, seasonal fruits or chocolate syrup to my bowl of Oats.

2. Sprouts

Sprouts are among my favorites. An appetizing mix of sprouts, onions, cucumber, carrots and tomatoes topped with cooling dahi has been my all time favorite. I usually soak bengal gram (kala chana), green gram (moong) and fenugreek (methi) overnight, then the next morning drain out the water and wrap everything in a muslin cloth and keep it in refrigerator. After sprouting, add freshly chopped onions, cucumber, carrots, tomatoes and top it up with some chat powder and lemon/curd (dahi). The healthiest smack one could ever had.

3. Popcorn

I like munching some low-butter popcorns in between meals reading my favorite book. I like adding pinch of tomato powder on the popcorn for added flavors.

4. Fruits

I usually consume a fruit every evening 1 hour prior going to bed. I try to add more and more colorful fruits to my diet by varying the fruit platter! I love Apples, Pomegranate, Watermelon, Pineapples, Pear, Grapes, Strawberries, Guava and Papayas!

5. Dry Fruits

These are excellent source of minerals, dietary fiber and essential nutrients, such as Vitamin A (apricots and peaches), Calcium (figs), Vitamin K (plums), Iron and Copper. They retain most of the nutritional value of fresh fruits. My favorites include Almonds ( badaam), Chestnut (akhrot), Cashew (Kaju), Fig (anjeer), Pistachio (pista) and Pumpkin Seeds.

Dry Fruits are great for Hair and Skin.
