There’s no denying that Sydney is one of the world’s greatest cities, helped in no small part by its beautiful harbour position, fantastic nightlife and gorgeous beaches. If you’ve not been to Sydney before, then it’s hard to resist the allure of a harbour view room for that quintessential view of the city – in fact, even if you have been to the city before, it’s hard to resist it. Situated in the historic Rocks area, right in the heart of downtown, the Four Seasons is is one of the city’s most prestigious hotels. The rooms to opt for here are the Opera and Harbour view rooms – or, if you can afford to completely splash out, then you can’t beat the view offered from the top-floor suites, which offer panoramic views over both.
This is a great location, with the city literally on your doorstep; restaurants and bars are never very far away. Plus, you’ve got the ferry to the beaches just minutes away, and great transport connections for exploring the rest of what the city has to offer.

Want a harbour view but don’t think you can afford one? Well, a backpacker hostel might not be the first place you think of for a honeymoon, but if you’re heading to Sydney on a budget, it definitely should be. This isn’t your stereotypical idea of a hostel – it’s smart and modern, and situated in The Rocks, in a part of town that dates back to the first European settlement in the country, just minutes away from the iconic harbour.

If experiencing Sydney’s fantastic nightlife is top of your list for a visit to the city, then you should definitely consider staying in or around King Cross, and the Diamant Hotel makes a fabulous base from which to experience this vibrant city. This is undoubtedly one of the coolest places to stay in Sydney, with an understated sophistication, and you’ll be spoilt for choice when it comes to great bars and restaurants to head out to in the evenings.

Of course, one of the highlight’s of Sydney’s position is its fabulous beaches – and what better way to experience them than by staying right on one of them? Bondi might be better known, but Coogee is a fantastic, less pretentious option, full of places to eat, drink and shop. And, if the water feels a bit nippy, you can swim in the lovely outdoor pool, looking out onto the sea.
