This post brought to you by The Walmart Foundation. All opinions are 100% mine.
I'll be honest, I'm somewhat of an emotional gal. Even more so now that I have my son. There is one thing that is just absolutely gut wrenching when I think about it. Hunger.
I have read, heard, and listened to countless stories from people who grew up without enough food on the table or who currently struggle to figure out where their next meal is coming from. My mom works for a local school cafeteria and the stories she tells me about the children who clearly don't have enough to eat at home are just about enough to send me into a depression. Children who are practically in tears if they fear they haven't made it in time for school breakfast. Awful.
When offered to share a program from Walmart to help fight hunger, that by the way is worse this time of year, I jumped at it. Walmart has partnered with four of the most recognizable brands on our shelves today-ConAgra, General Mills, Kraft, and Kellogg's- in a nationwide Fighting Hunger Together initiative. Starting April 9th through April 30th, you and I can join them in the fight against nationwide hunger via Facebook or in-store.
Via Facebook: Go vote at Walmart's Facebook page. Fans will rally together to support and vote for over 200 communities with the highest unemployment rates. Walmart will donate a total of $2 million to the 21 communities that receive the most support-$1 million
to the winner and $50,000 each to the 20 runners-up. This is expected to generate 43 million meals for families in need.Vote to fight spring hunger with Walmart
In-Store: By visiting your local Walmart between April 9th and April 30th and purchasing select products from ConAgra, General Mills, Kraft, and Kellog's, you will donate meals to Feeding America or Action for Healthy Kids, a nonprofit fighting childhood hunger. Check the in-store signage and product packaging to make a purchase that will go towards these causes.
Please do you part by visiting your local Walmart, I'm bet many of the products that qualify will already be on your grocery list!
