I refer to Mr. Dan Hodges, distinguished scribbler for Her Majesty's Loyal Telegraph and son of that socialist firebrand, Ms. Glenda Jackson MP. She, of course, should have been had up by the social services she so admires for cruel and unusual punishment inflicted on her poor, innocent child as she spoon-fed him socialism in large dollops throughout his infancy. Well, I assume that is how he acquired the ridiculous notions he still clings to despite knowing, in his heart of hearts, what a load of 'blx' they are! Of course, darling Glenda, such a sweetie on stage so I am told, is now too old to change what passes for her mind but I hold high hopes for young Daniel who, I suspect, will end up somewhere to the Right of 'that woman' of blessed memory.
Take for example his recent article for The Telegraph on the subject of racism in Rotherham. For the benefit of my foreign readers I should explain that the latest 'SHLOCK-HORROR' story to dominate our news is the final report on the activities of Pakistani gangs in that town (and no doubt several others, too) in which they inveigled young, some very young, girls into prostitution. For years complaints were made to the local council, solidly socialist to its red underwear, and also to the local plod who took one look at the prevailing political regime in the town and said, in effect, 'nothing to see here, move along!' It is now clear that 'political correctness' ruled and that no-one in authority was prepared to take on the Pakistani gangs lest they be accused of being racist - a worse crime in Labour party circles than kiddie-fiddling!
However, Master Hodges will have none of it. In his excellent article he 'calls a spade a bloody shovel' and insists that it was not political correctness at work but good (er, well, bad, actually) old-fashioned racism at work:
The Casey report said that staff at the council did not act on the reports of systemic child abuse “for fear of appearing racist”. This echoes what the Jay report found in other agencies, in particular the police. “Young people in Rotherham believed at that time that the Police dared not act against Asian youths for fear of allegations of racism”, she said.
Let’s deconstruct that. A victim reports a crime to the authorities. They look at her and see she is white. They look at the accused and see he is not white. And on that basis – and solely on that basis – they refuse to take any action. That is not ant-racism. It is not political correctness. It is the very definition of racism itself. [My emphasis]
It is important to understand that Dan Hodges must have found this hard to write. He is of the Left and has been all of his life. Thus he has imbibed the various mantras that go with belonging to any political movement. It takes a person of real intelligence and some courage to point out to his fellow devotees that their own emperor, for such is the high standing of socialist mantras, is wearing no clothes. And he pulls no punches:
The racists of the far-Right have a favoured Pavlovian, response, whenever confronted over their prejudice. “You only ever talk about white racism. What about black racism?” I’ve personally always dismissed it as Neolithic attempt at moral relativism.
But we can’t dismiss it now. If we mean what we say about challenging racism, then we have to challenge it whenever and wherever we find it. And today we have found it in Rotherham.
To dismiss what occurred there as political correctness run amok is to of itself allow political correctness to run amok. The victims of Rotherham were selected because of their race. The perpetrators were left free to continue their abuse because of their race. That is what we call racism. Because if we don’t, then the entire concept of racism ceases to have any meaning.
It was racism that allowed a British town to be turned into a rape camp, not political correctness. We must not let political correctness prevent us from saying so.
Well said, and yet another example, whether you agree or disagree with him, of why Dan Hodges is the 'must read' commentator of today.
