February Birth Flower: The Violet

Roses tend to dominate the scene in February to honor roman’s official day: Valentine’s day. However, not to be eclipsed by roses and Reds is the vibrant purple tone of the Violet. This delicate flowering plant is the official birth of flowers for those who celebrate their anniversaries in February. True meaning

The fragrant purple flower symbolizes truth and fidelity, but also a sense of modesty, spiritual wisdom and humility.  The purple flowers also bloom in white, blue,and yellow. Violet’s petals are said to mean further that “I will always be true”, while the White variant means ” take a chance. “There are 500 species of finished Violet, including closely related thoughts, which are brightly colored hybrid plants with similar petals.

With its bright tones and sensitive petals, the purple flower was also used by medieval herbalists for its healing properties. Another fun fact: purple is the official flower state of Wisconsin, Rhode Island, Illinois and New Jersey.

If you have friends or loved ones celebrating a birthday in February, send them a purple plant or flower arrangement for a gift with an extra personal touch.
