It was a whirlwind of a week at New York’s CMJ Music Marathon. One of the highlight acts we got to see was Milo Greene, the indie pop band from Los Angeles. Don’t be fooled by the name, however, Milo Greene is not just one man. The band is actually a quintet, comprised of four lead singers and a percussionist.
Milo Greene formed in 2010 with idea of creating music that would fit well into movies and TV. They are a rare pop band that loves writing scores, resulting in the “cinematic-pop” genre they’ve labeled themselves. Milo Greene has recently been successful in this vision with their song, “Perfectly Aligned,” being featured in Tim Burton’s upcoming film, Big Eyes.
In 2012, the band released Moddison, a short film compiling music videos for each song on their self-titled debut album. It was a unique idea that certainly sets Milo Greene apart, and is a perfect example of the band’s essence.
Milo Greene is signed with Chop Shop/Atlantic Records and has released one full length album, Milo Greene, with a sophomore album, Control, set to be released January 27, 2015. Listen to their single, “White Lies,” below to hear their fun, yet soothing sound. You can pre-order the album now, as well.
