This week’s featured artist is an interesting case who is just trying to find his place in the world. With family native to Uganda, Jonah Mutono was born in London, but has also called Philadelphia and Uganda his home. His return to the latter has sparked inspiration for much of his music, namely his debut EP, Reunion.
Music has been a part of Mutono’s life since he was four years old. It has become an eclectic blend, drawing inspiration from Michael Jackson to TLC to Congolese Soukous. But that’s what keeps Kidepo interesting and unique. Highlighted tracks include “Ramada” and “Water.” The EP is out now and it’s worth the listen.
