Feature by Ellie Garno
This next feature is for Harts and hearts. “Love is powerful,” Darren Hart of the rock/funk project sings on his new single, “Power,” and it’s what we need right now. Australians know Harts from the festival circuit, although he recently returned home from a successful tour in Europe—including a slot at PINKPOP in the Netherlands—as well. “Power” premiered on Triple J last month and has since been added to high rotation; it’s the first track Harts has released since partnering with the Australian indie record label Dew Process (Bernard Fanning, Sarah Blasko, Mumford & Sons). The winning formula is pop(ish) vocals plus a rock and roll electric guitar. (Something like the late, great Prince—who by the way said that Hart “reminds me of how I was at that age.” Nbd.) Also, lyrics about peace and harmony at the bridge match the funkadelic instrumental vibes.
Stream it and weep.
