Watching the home videos on the official site of this next Feature Friday group, it quickly becomes clear how utterly cool these guys are. Jamming out in some basement dressed in vintage tees and pajama bottoms, Caverns is a collection of talented dudes that are all about the music. Hailing from the Big Apple, Caverns consists of Nicola Wincenc (vocals, guitar), Lucio Westmoreland (guitar, vocals), Isaac Sleator (keyboard, synth, vocals), Nick Katz (bass, vocals), and Russel Holtzman (drums).

The indie alternative pop/rock group—yes they manage to cover it all—formed back in 2012 as fellow students at an art school in New York, where they studied music and film photography. Just a few years later, Caverns is setting themselves up for the release of their forthcoming EP, which is set for a spring release. “Ghosts” is their new single and you need to check it out on YouTube now. It’s surprisingly tame to start; Wincenc has fantastic falsetto capabilities. But then, without warning, at the two minute mark this song explodes! Clashing drums, psychedelic synth sounds, and guitar that is absolutely worthy of some air guitar action—Caverns rocks out.

Right now, the band is making its way around notable venues in New York, with a show planned for this Saturday at the Mercury Lounge. Stay on top of future shows and the release of their EP by following Caverns’ Facebook, Twitter, and official site, and let us know what you think.
