Favorite Lippies: Reds

By Thecurlycasualista @curlycasualista
Favorite Lippies: Reds And some months later, I'm picking up my favorite lipsticks series again! As fall turned to winter, my taste in lip color turned to reds of various forms. I'm always on the hunt for the perfect red, and I think I've maybe found it (or a few that are almost it). Or, I just have a problem. Nevertheless, reds are my favorite lipstick color. They're bold and noticeable and they work wonders for bringing your look to the next level. When I'm feeling insecure or tired, a red lip does so much to brighten my face!
Favorite Lippies: Reds Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick in F-Bomb is an awesome red. I mean awesome. It's bright, a true red, with blue undertones (working well for those cool-toned girls). The formula is really moisturizing and long-lasting. It has a slight shine to the finish, which makes it a really comfortable wear. The only downfall is the shape of the product, itself, which can make it a little hard to apply. Usually I just apply it straight from the tube, but if I have a little more time, I usually use a lip brush.
Favorite Lippies: Reds NARS Semi-Matte Lipstick in Heat Wave - This is a blogger favorite and I totally see why. It's great! This NARS formula is wonderful. It's bright and matte, but also moisturizing (though I usually layer lip balm or primer under it so it doesn't settle in any fine lines). It lasts for ages. The color is also the best. It looks pretty orange on me, but runs more red on others. It's perfect for all seasons!
Favorite Lippies: Reds NARS Semi-Matte Lipstick in Scarlet Empress - Another one of NARS' really excellent semi-matte formulas. This is a really pretty blue-red that runs almost purple on me. I really love it when I need to vamp up an outfit!
Favorite Lippies: Reds NARS Semi-Matte Lipstick in Fire Down Below - This fall/winter, I spent a lot of time searing for the perfect dark, vampy red. Fire Down Below seems to be it. It's perfect. Brick red, matte, the greatest for a snowy winter day!
Favorite Lippies: Reds Too Faced La Creme Lipstick in Divine Wine - I bought this lippie before I bought Fire Down Below. They're similar shades, though this is actually deeper. However, the formulas are entirely different. This is, as its name suggests, creamy. It isn't very long-lasting, but it feels a lot like a lip balm on. It's really very nice, though extremely dark.
Favorite Lippies: Reds L'Oreal Infallible Le Rouge in Blazing Sangria - This was the first red I bought that I actually really liked on myself. I think because it, like F-Bomb, has blue undertones. This is supposed to be L'Oreal's long-lasting line, and it lasts, though not as much as more matte lipsticks. This has a pearly sheen to it, which is not my favorite. However, the formula goes on really easily. When I am in a huge rush and want a red lip, this is the tube I find myself grabbing first!
Favorite Lippies: Reds Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter in Candy Apple - This is a great starter red. It goes on like a really pigmented chapstick and is extremely moisturizing. As such, it doesn't last very long, but you can apply it almost without a mirror! It's really bright, but because of the balm-like finish it is extremely wearable.
Favorite Lippies: Reds Lasting Finish by Kate Moss for Rimmel in 107 - This is a new purchase, and it's a really great berry red shade. The matte finish is nice, however it's not too moisturizing. Therefore, I recommend wearing it over a lip balm. That said, it last for ages with little feathering or wear!
Favorite Lippies: Reds CoverGirl Blast Flipstick in Cheeky - I've head this double-ended lippie for ages. It's actually pretty similar to Heat Wave, though one end is a pearly orange. You can wear one or the other, or layer them as you please. It's pretty moisturizing, but not that long lasting. Still, it's a good, budget-friendly dup of Heat Wave!
Favorite Lippies: Reds OCC Lip Tar in NSFW - Guys, this is the red. Everything you've heard about OCC's Lip Tars is true. They last forever (seriously, i tried to take this off with coconut oil - my current choice of makeup remover - soap and water, and my face oil...no go). It's a true red. I apply it with a lip brush and, because I find it to be a little drying, I usually put some balm over it. This is a keeper.
There you have it! My favorite red lipsticks. What is your favorite lip product?
