Facebook Launches Native iPad App

Posted on the 11 October 2011 by Jesusmsanchezl @JesusmSanchezl

Facebook for iPadAfter months of rumors and speculations, finally the native Facebook application for iPad is here.

It is not really a new appliation. It is simply an update of the current version of the App Store that passes to be universal and therefore consistent at the same time with all Apple devices.

The version for the iPad has radically different design that at first glance enhances what we already know better. The main changes are:

  • New display of images and albums with a similar design to the Photos application built into the iPad.
  • Messaging and chat together under a single interface, accessible from anywhere in the application.
  • Support for all games and external applications from Facebook within the application.
  • Quick access to the service notification system.

Facebook mobile engineer Leon Dubinsky wrote on the Facebook Blog:

Give the screen a swipe to page through albums. Pinch a picture to zoom in.

Photos really shine on the iPad. They’re bigger and easy to flip through, like a real photo album.

Your games, apps, groups and lists are in the left-hand menu, so you don’t have to dig around to find the stuff you use most

So basically the “new” app will allow the user to chat with friends, play games and watch high-resolution videos in the app.

Also,  according to Dubinsky, Facebook mobile website will be improved aswell:

In your next update, you’ll see a simplified navigation, faster search and access to more games and apps

The app is available on the Apple App Store or you can download the Facebook for iPad right now!

Here are some screenshots of the application
