Eye Makeup is Not for Everyone

Eye Makeup is Not for Everyone

Makeup is an important part of our culture. It not only helps you cover your blemishes but it stops others from asking you," Are you tired?"

In Japan, it is required for women to wear makeup to work daily even if it is just foundation or powder.

Applying our Eye Makeup is More Important than Ever

Now that we are required to wear face masks, applying our eye makeup perfectly is more important than ever. By using eyeliner and mascara it helps make you look more youthful plus it helps double the size of small Asian eyes like mine.

Eyeshadows are a great way to express your thoughts and your creativity but it was not a popular everyday makeup choice here in Asia. Reasons vary from cultural difference to lack of time.

In Singapore, unless you are working in a position that requires you to face customers daily or if you work in front of the camera, many of us do not wear heavy makeup daily.

My Thoughts on Makeup

For me, I feel that it is a hassle to wake up so much earlier to doll up my face to see the same people daily. I feel that basic makeup is already a celebration and eye makeup is a party.

Despite that, I do enjoy watching others flawlessly curating different makeup looks. That inspired me to create my February Makeup Look using Korean Makeup products. The look was subtly bold, aligning with my Asian roots that teaches me to be great in silence.

Although applying eye makeup is a fun process for me, I was confronted with a problem that stops me from my art - A Stye.
