Exclusive! Kate Somerville’s Tips On Achieving Your Best Skin In 1 Month! (Part 2)

By Joanna Koh

Last week, we brought you Part 1 of the exclusive tips we received from Kate Somerville on achieving your best skin in 6 months.

While her clients are paying up to US$375 per facial at her clinic, those of us who don’t have the time or money to see her in Hollywood can also follow her advice on getting great skin.

For the ladies(and men) out there who think they can just cover up with makeup instead of spending time and effort on improving their skin, Kate has this to say:

“For me good skin means: walking out of the house with no make-up, feeling and looking radiant, beautiful, and comfortable in your own skin. Healthy skin does not need to be covered. Keeping skin in good shape will keep breakouts under control, and wrinkles and firmness up. Plus, good skin gives you the perfect canvas for smooth, flawless makeup application!”

Today, we’re counting down to your big day (or maybe big date event!). Don’t freak out yet! Read on for more tips from Kate on how to get your best skin if you’ve just one month left to go!

Your recommended morning routine:

Cleanse: Use a gentle, sulfate-free gel cleanser like Kate Somerville Gentle Daily Cleanser

Treat: Get rid of fine lines and wrinkles with an anti-aging treatment product. Kate’s DermalQuench Liquid Lift Advanced Wrinkle Treatment is patent-pending and it’s like getting a clinical treatment of oxygen and hyaluronic acid in the convenience of a bottle.
Moisturise: Use a moisturizer according to your skin types. Those with oily skin should use an oil-free moisturizer, while if you have dry skin, choose a richer cream.
Don’t forget the eyes: Use a small amount of your favorite eye cream and gently pat around the eye area. Kate recommends  CytoCell Dark Circle Corrective if you have a special occasion coming up because it helps treat dark circles and reduces the appearance of expression lines
Protect: Use an ample amount of broad spectrum sunscreen, and remember to reapply throughout the day.
Your recommended evening routine is the same as your morning routine, without the sunscreen.

Treatment days!

Every Thursday evening
“Incorporate my at-home, professional-strength treatment peel, Clinic to Go Resurfacing Peel Pads to your night routine. Place two fingers in the sleeve and peel off the seal to expose the product. Gently buff the lactic acid and soothing myrtle and sage leaf into skin, using circular motions. Leave on for 2 minutes. Rinse and gently pat dry.”

Every Sunday evening

” Incorporate ExfoliKate Intensive Exfoliating Treatment to your night routine. Try it for 2 minutes in the shower as the steam will help activate the enzymes, making it even more effective. If you have sensitive skin use ExfoliKate Gentle Exfoliating Treatment.”

Like many beauty professionals, Kate recommends that for younger looking skin, you should avoid sun exposure.  ”Spending time in the sun increases the risk of skin cancer, premature aging, and sun damage. To decrease these risks, apply an ample amount of sunscreen over your moisturizer. Use a product that provides true broad spectrum UVA/UVB protection.”

Hopefully these tips are coming to you in time for your big day! Good skin takes time, patience and effort. Next friday, look out for the final part of this exclusive with Kate Somerville! We’ll bring you her recommended routine for the last one week counting down to your wedding, how to reduce scars, what treatments to avoid, and what you should and shouldn’t eat to look great on your wedding day!
