Exciting News!

By Fitnessmeetsfrosting @fitnessfrosting

Hey friends! Yes, I know I’ve been a bad blogger and have not posted/read blogs in many many days. Life has been crazy lately with moving logistics and other fun stuff so unfortunately the first thing to go was blogging.

Kyle and I move THIS coming weekend!! Yep. Holy crap.

I’m incredibly excited + happy + sad + nostalgic + stressed + tired + just about any other emotion you can think of. I’m so happy to start this next part of my life with my best friend/boyfriend/lobster. At the same time, I didn’t realize how sad I would get as I pack up my childhood room. AND to top it off I realized that I only have ~1 week left with my dog (I get to take my cats).

We’re kind of best buds so this will be hard. I guess I’ll just steal her from home a lot.

If any of you have purchased a house and moved ALL of your belongings (we’re not talkin’ dorm room move here), you know how crazy things can get. All I think about is boxes now. I am assuming it is inappropriate to hang out in Costco and follow customers out of the store and ask if they want that huge box their crap comes in? And PS the sound of packing tape makes my ears bleed.

In other exciting news (and also why I haven’t been blogging)…

I got into George Washington University!!

Starting this September, I will be working towards my Masters of Public Health! This has been a dream of mine for some time now so I’m pretty ecstatic.

Now, I know some of you are thinking- wait, didn’t she just buy a house in California (GWU is in DC)? Yes. And no we are not moving to DC.

Early on this year I decided that I wanted to pursue a Masters degree online. I know some people will look down on this but they can kiss my a$$. I realized the following (Please note that this only applies to my situation and I would never judge any of your career/educational paths):

  1. I don’t want to put my life on hold and ask Kyle to move (and thereby asking him to put his career on hold).
  2. I don’t want to put my career on hold. Yes I’m selfish and want my hands in both cookie jars. Keep on going with my job. Keep on going with school.
  3. If I keep working full-time, work will pay for some of my tuition. ‘Nough said.

So I decided to apply to online programs and happened to get into a great one for public health!

I fell in love with this program because the courses are taught by the same teachers as the on-campus program. I didn’t want my education to suffer by taking online courses, but now I will be taking the SAME courses (taught by the same teachers)! Additionally, they don’t make you declare a specialty like some MPH programs. I honestly am fascinated by all aspects of public health, so picking one would have been hard. So if I pass all my courses, in 2 years I will have a legit Masters degree!

Anyways, I apologize for being absent. I hope to be more present, but this week will be filled with work, packing, running (if I have time), and moving. I do have a post coming up regarding the blog writing process! I’m waiting to hear back from a couple blog friends before I post :)

Catch me up on your life!

Have any funny moving stories?
