Have you noticed that we are adding more footnotes to our guides? (You've probably seen them - those little grey balls that appear at the end of some sentences.) Diet Doctor's medical team has been devoting a lot of time to this effort. As Medical Director of the site, I want to explain why.
The footnotes are part of our "evidence-basing" efforts. For us, evidence basing means linking our statements to the peer-reviewed science (or occasionally, clinical experience) that supports our views. That way, if you are interested, you can click through to the scientific research and take a look for yourself.
But we take it even further. We grade each piece of science according to our policy for grading scientific evidence. This extra step gives you a sense of how strong the underlying study is and why. It's a consistent and transparent way for us to help you evaluate the science - and what we are saying about the science.
This is our way of making our site as trustworthy as possible.
In addition, we understand that health and nutritional science continue to change and progress over time. That is why we've committed to updating all of our evidence-based guides at least once a year. In August and September, we have updated 23 of our evidence-based guides. You can find a full list here.
