It’s a known fact that I’m a sucker for packaging – if it glitters, I like it. If it’s cute, I love it. If it’s animal preens, out comes my wallet. Sigh.
Last week, I attended the DHC re-branding event, and zomg, it was cuteness overload (although I would expect nothing less from the top direct mail skincare brand in Japan).
With its new focus on “Beauty Inside Out”, the all-new DHC will bring to you products that will make you beautiful inside and outside, which means skincare products and oral consumption stuff.
The ginormous bag of collagen powder that retails for S$58.50 and is enough for 32 days’ consumption.
The Medicated Q10 range and collagen tablets.
The new Kakonjuka Range for anti-ageing is formulated with 6 Japanese and Korean botanicals. Consists of the Essence ($48, 30ml). the Cream ($44.90, 40g) and the Lotion ($39.90, 100ml). Beside it, the DHC Collagen Beauty 7000+ drink in white grape flavour ($49.90 for 10 x 7000mg bottles)
Me coercing Christina into doing something stupid haha. sorry babe. heh. but you do look cute!
Us desecrating DHC’s new visuals and brand mantra – beauty via application and consumption.
Ok enough fooling around. It’s tatami time – in true Japanese style, we’re seated on cushions on tatami mats to listen to Micheas Chan, Marketing and Merchandizing Director from Watsons. He tells us that in Watsons, they will soon be displaying DHC products in this manner, kinda like an all-in-one beauty package from DHC.
Special guests for the night – two ladies from DHC Japan. The lady in white is Ms Kimiko Ikeda, beauty advisor from DHC Japan, while I forgot the name of the lady in black. I only remember she’s from the Marketing dept and amazingly gracious, especially since there were a bunch of bloggers at the back who were totally rude and annoying – not only were they chattering non-stop in increasingly loud voices, they were actually cam-whoring during the ladies’ speeches. If I had bigger balls, I’d totally have told them to shut up. Or stomped them.
Did your momma not teach you to have good manners? Even famous bloggers like Xiaxue and MrBrown pay attention when attending events – who are you to yap away, disregarding the two speakers from Japan? It’s bloggers like those who taint bloggers’ reputations. Tsk. I hope the PR firm blacklists you guys.
Anyhoo, rant over.
Using the DHC Olive Virgin Oil to massage Candice’s face. The DHC Virgin Olive Oil costs $72.90 for 30ml.
Next up, using a hot towel to steam your face and pores, presumably for better absorption of product.
Using the new Kakonjuka range Lotion (aka toner) to moisten cotton pads and applying over the eyes. I like thissssss. And no, it will not make your eyes or skin brown.
Now to the exciting part – time to learn how to cook certain dishes, utilising DHC’s Collagen powder. nom nom nom.
This Cookyn place is pretty cool – they even have a livestream of the cook onto the large tv so that you can see what’s going on.
Demonstration’s over – time for us to get down and dirttyyyyyyy and handsyyyyyy.
Our friendly table tutor guiding us along the way.
After some bumbling and tummy rumbling, my baked buttery mentaiko ramen in parcels is ready to be baked!
Everyone’s parcel of ramen. nom nom nom.
While my ramen bakes, we move on to making sushi. Look at me, pretending to be all illustrious while making sushi. heh.
My sushi’s rolled! You can barely see or taste the collagen powder that was sprinkled into the rice before rolling it up. heh.
Christina and I – I look half constipated cos I was in the midst of gobbling down all my sushi. heh. fine, i’m a glutton, so sue me.
Christina’s sushi of love which she packed home for her hubby to eat. so sweet lahhhhhhh. Me? I finished them all in about 3-4 minutes.
Meanwhile, our ramen’s done! See the white sprinkles on top? It looks like parmesan cheese but hey, it’s actually DHC collagen powder.
I ate my ramen at such vociferous speed that I even had time to make Candy and Gin pose for a photo for me.
And now, time for dessert – making our very own yoghurt anmitsu with fresh fruit. This one’s so simple and delicious – basically you just hurl grapes, blueberries, red bean paste, mochi and yoghurt together. Top with DHC’s Collagen Beauty (which adds a yummy sour tinge) and you’re ready to eat.
My dessert – more of everything, less of the yoghurt. heh.
I think Watsons is really stepping it up a notch this year – it’s just 3 months into 2013 and already I’ve attended 2 really fun Watsons events (the first was its Beauty Day Out). Somehow, it’s actually working and ingratiating itself in my favour- I find myself buying more things from Watsons these days. Somebardy save my monehhhhhhh.
Cos this is one long post, I was too tired to type out the recipe for the items I cooked assembled. Will upload the photos of the recipes really soon
Anyhoos, Cookyn is one helluva fun place if you’re interested in having events or learning to cook or even holding your own partey. The staff are so friendly and nice, and the facilities are really good. The only downside is its location – it’s located near the end of Rangoon Road, about 10-15 mins’ walk from the nearest station which is Farrer Park station.
