Espa-thrills! My Pick of This Seasons Best Espadrilles

Ah the humble espadrille has come a long way from it’s beginnings as peasant footwear and has now long been, and I suspect will long remain, a fashion staple.
You will rarely (read never) see me site the likes of Kim Kardashian and Cheryl Cole as style influencers (puh-lease). I’d much rather reference the old Hollywood screen legends like Lauren Bacall and Grace Kelly who have both been pictured wearing espadrilles in their hay day.

Don’t they look impossibly wonderful?

I’ve always put off purchasing a pair myself because a) they don’t look very comfortable and b) I like to kid myself on that one day I am going to be swept around the world by a millionaire who will take me to some hidden place in a little Spanish village where I’ll have a pair hand crafted just for me. However now I am settled with Mr Juicy and I have shoes which are a hell of a lot less comfortable than espadrilles look so I’m thinking SS12 will be the season I buy my first espadrilles.
