Election Day – Is It Over Yet?

This was on Google today – cute reminder along with directions to your nearest voting locations and hours.

I gotta be honest here. I will be so glad when this whole mudslinging…err…election is over.

Anyone else tired of hearing the ads on TV and our phones?  Thank goodness for the mute button and answering machines.  Talk about being bombarded?  Give it a rest.

Locally, we had some cut-you-off-at-the-knees-hit-you-under-the-belt kind of thing going on here and I am completely turned off by both candidates.  The lengths they have gone to for the sake of winning.  Disgusting.

After lunch, I will be heading over to vote, then to the store to pick up a few necessities, come home and go on with life. My life. Making it what it should be no matter who gets elected. Life, as we know it, does not depend on who is or who isn’t in the oval office. Corporations will take care of that for us dontcha know.

Yesterday, as I laid on the couch flipping through the news channels (in my stuffed head, lack of sleep, red-nosed stupor), I was watching people get bent out of shape over one person’s opinion vs. their own – I couldn’t believe my eyes. Their voices started getting louder to the point of yelling. They started talking over top of the other even though it was the other person’s turn to share their thoughts. It was an I’m right, you’re wrong and I’m going to prove it to you by getting out of my seat, pointing my finger at you and yelling. If you have ever watched The Real Housewives of New York reunion show, you will know exactly what I’m talking about.

Either way, both (shows) were disgusting and embarrassing to watch. After a few minutes, I turned the TV off.

What is wrong with people? Have we forgotten how to respect others? Do we think so highly of ourselves that our opinion is the only one that matters? Can we not handle someone else disagreeing with us that we feel we must cut them down with below the belt tactics?  By doing this, do we really think that this will change the other person’s mind?

I understand the passion we can feel about issues but…let’s have a little common decency shall we?!

I don’t know about you, but when someone treats me this way, my heels go right into the ground.  It doesn’t matter what you say.  Even if you are right, I’m done listening to you.

Speaking of being done. This cold crud has just about done me in along with my sense of humor.  All I can think about right now is whether or not I will actually sneeze or will it just well up in my eyes.  This girl is hitting the showers in hopes of clearing her fuzzy head and praying the meds will kick in enough to help me think more clearly before I cast my vote.  Maybe it will help with my sarcasm as well?  Who knows.  It could happen!

POST EDIT:  Voted.  Took all of 20 minutes which included travel time up and back.  Love Small Town Living!
