By Heather Hahn @HeatherHahnn

I don’t know about you, but I find it incredibly difficult getting up in the mornings during winter. For one thing, it’s so cold and dark that it’s easy to put the cover over your head and fall back into the land of nod. And secondly, when you do get up, you know you will have to face the frosty situation with your car! All this can lead to you ending up rolling into work late, which never goes down well with your boss. Here are some great hacks to ensure you are not late for work this winter!

Leave a light on in the bedroom

One of the biggest issues with winter mornings is how dark it is in the room. It makes people think it’s still the middle of the night and they often fall back to sleep after their alarm. After all, your brain needs some light to switch into gear. Therefore, to ensure you get up on time, you should leave some form of light on in your bedroom. You might want to buy an illuminating alarm clock which will light up your room when it’s time to wake up. Or you might want to get an automated lamp which turns on at a particular time. And if you get up in the night to use the loo, you could always switch on the hall light. That way, you will be more inclined to get up in the morning!

Get equipment to remove the snow

When the bad weather strikes, it can cause mayhem on the roads. After all, we all know how difficult it can be to drive in the snow. But it can also cause issues when you try and pull out of your drive in the morning. After all, your car will be skidding everywhere with snow on the ground. Therefore, you should buy some equipment so that you can remove snow and leave for work quicker. You might want to get a snow blower which you can use to get rid of the snow quickly! You can get hold of these from companies such as Snow Shifts. Also, get a good shovel to remove the snow from the pavement, so that you don’t fall when leaving your home!

Cover your car the night before

A lot of people are late for work as they have to scrape the frost off their windscreen. It can take ages if it’s been a bad night. Therefore, to ensure you are not late for work this winter, you should cover your car the night before. If possible, put it in a garage so that it’s out the way of the snow. Otherwise, you can buy a car cover which you can put over your vehicle so that it doesn’t get frosty in the night. Or use an old blanket or bed sheet that you don’t mind getting ruined by the bad weather!

And remember to make sure you leave time so that you can fill up with porridge and a delicious cup of hot chocolate. That way, it will help you to get through the cold morning at work! And it might motivate you to do a great job while you are in the office.
