Hey Loveys,
Happy Tuesday! Have you made it through my last blog post yet? It was a doozy. I don't think this one will be as long, so you can take a breath! Lol!
I hope you're week is off to a great start. Mine has been insanely productive, both at home and at work. We recently acquired some new fitness clubs in Toronto so things have been a bit nuts with bringing on some new people, it being month end and just changing a few things in general. It's all be so good and it's going to get even better! I'm also super excited to have some new people starting in the office this week, I love having new people join the office family!
C has been 100000x more busy than me because 3 of those clubs he'll be managing so last night when my boss offered to take us to a Raptors game, neither of us could say no! It was so much fun and we both definitely needed just to take a mental break and it was fun. Unfortunately the Raptors lost, but the place was pretty packed! Check out the picture I snapped from the box we had!
Good times!! Needless to say even after an entire day of clean eating and an awesome upper body workout, I caved, had a slice of cheese pizza and a sandwich that they were serving in our box, pluuuus maybe some white wine. I don't want to dwell on the negative, so I'm going to tell you about my current awesome eats and awesome workouts.
First off, I've been LOVING my morning green smoothies!! I don't know what it is, but it's like I crave them! I even bought a pre-made green smoothie (cheating, I know!) and I'm hoping it's delish! Look, this is literally right now, you can probably tell by the gym rat hair I have going on!
In that bottle of juice (or so the label says) contains 5.5 apples, 2 plums, 2.75 bananas and 1 passion fruit. Not too shabby! I bought it so I could just add some to my smoothies in the morning. I also bought some more coconut water, spinach and baby cucumbers to add to them as well. I'm really looking forward to experimenting with green shakes!
I'm off to a great start in terms of workouts this week. I did an upper body weight workout yesterday and I thought I'd be a lot more sore than I am today. I haven't done weights in a few weeks (remember how I didn't workout for 2 weeks, then all I did last week was run) so I figured I'd be seriously lacking in mobility today. Turns out I'm a bit stiff, but nothing too serious or preventing me from hitting the gym today either! I had planned on running outside today. I brought my gloves, my GPS watch, my running pull-over type sweater thing and my long tights. Well in Toronto today it felt like -5 and the wind gusts were almost 40km/hr (it's fast), so I opted to hit the "dreadmill".
I don't know what the hell it is, but WHY am I such a slow runner lately!? I did exactly 5km in like 32ish minutes. WTF? I can normally bust out a 5km in like 27 minutes. It's ridic! My calves were so stiff today STILL from the weekend and I was starting to feel it in my shins. Tomorrow is another weight training day so hopefully my legs figure out what the hell their doing, fix themselves and let me do more running/training. It's 19 days until the Toronto Yonge St. 10km race and I think if I ran it tomorrow I would cry. Michelle assured me that it's just a phase and that she went through something similar and it lasted like 8 months. Perfect. My race is in 19 days and I'm going to be slow for at least another 7.5 months lol.
This whole thing actually got me thinking while I was running today... is it harder to get BACK into running than it is to get into running in the first place? I think that this question plays mind games on people and may play a part in setting people up for failure. Let me give you some examples, or just one. When I started running, getting out 3km was a huge accomplishment for me. Eventually running further and further, eventually getting to 21km, and each time being so incredibly proud of myself, posting my runs on Facebook and Twitter. It was ALL so good!!
Now... when I run 3km, all I can think about is "Really? Only 3km Sarah? Weak.". When I can't just bust out a 10km like I used to, I'm hard on myself. I feel badly. The fact that I was so fit and healthy and I let it go kind of makes me sad! Then I don't want to go running, then I don't run, then I get EVEN WORSE at running! Can anyone else relate to this? Please say yes. Please?
Ok. Because it's so late and I haven't had dinner yet, I'm going to call this a night and bounce out. I'm going to go make some delicious salmon and baked kale! Mmmm mmm good! The next time I post will be Thursday and I'm participating in a themed blog post called It's Ok Thursday. You'll see more about it on Thursday... but until then I will be keeping it a secret! AND I will be sharing a new Food For Thought. It's a blog post to be desired. :)
