DIY Spa ft. nügg Face Mask

Getting spa-like treatment and results are easy and affordable contrary to how most people think. You don't have to go to a real spa and spend so much money to enjoy and relax yourself. Here's my mini DIY spa routine that I do at least once or twice a month or on those days where I just need to relax and unwind. With the fall and winter season, it has been so easy for the skin to dry out and this mini DIY spa is also geared towards improving the conditions of the skin.
I start off by lighting my candle and playing the music that suits my mood at the time (right now I have Taylor Swift’s 1989 album on repeat). I get my large cup of hot tea (I love fruit tea, green and jasmine teas in particular) and start prepping my hot bath and grabbing my beauty must haves.

First step is to add epsom salt and bath bomb or body wash to the hot water. Epsom salt is available in drugstores for cheap. It is actually very easy to make your very own bath bomb but you can purchase one in stores, if you don’t have any on hand, add body wash to the water for a bubble bath. Give yourself a good soak for around 15-20 mins. Just relax, close your eyes and empty your mind.
Towards the end of your soak, take your ground coffee and thoroughly mix it with the coconut oil until it forms a gritty paste. This, my dears, is an anti-cellulite body scrub. This is one of my favorite DIY body scrub because the bathroom just smells like a cafe after I use this, plus it helps get rid of unwanted cellulite, improves blood circulation, exfoliates and moisturizes the skin and gives you a nice glow.

Massage this mixture all over your body, take your time and focus this on the areas where you have a lot of cellulite - for me those are my thighs and arms. Once done, leave the scrub on the body while you rinse your hand and start on the face.

For the face, I love exfoliating with something that is gentle and natural - my go to has always been oatmeal. All you have to do is take a handful of oats, add a little bit of warm water and mix it in your hands until it is soft and milky and then start massaging it on your face. This is a very gentle exfoliant and it makes your skin soft and bright. I also highly recommend using oatmeal scrubs at least once or twice a week for anyone who have sensitive and dry skin.

Drain the water from the tub and rinse off the body and face scrub with warm water. Towel yourself dry and don your robe, and apply a face mask.

I love face masks! They’re such a joy to use especially if you need to rejuvenate and intensely moisturize your face. I have previously talked about nügg face masks and they are the most affordable face masks out in the market right now. Today I’m using the nüggRevitalizing Face Mask with flaxseed and peppermint oil to give my dull skin a boost. One pod of nügg is actually good for one to two uses. Apply the mask all over your face and on the neck. I applied the mask thickly, using the whole pod because I’m leaving the mask on for 15- 20 minutes for intense hydration instead of 5-10 minutes. While the mask is on my face, I would spend this time either giving myself a manicure and pedicure or just lie down and read a book. I really like reading  prose and poetry books during this time since they’re short and easy to read. I have Lang Leav’s Love & Misadventure and Lullabies and Meggie Royer’s Survival Songs on my nightstand. By the end of 20 minutes, you have the option of rinsing the mask off with warm water followed by cold water or by wiping it of with a warm towel.
And you are done with your DIY Spa without leaving the comfort of your own home and spending too much money! You’ll have smooth, highly moisturized and soft skin and relaxed body. You can either go about your day, lie down and have a movie marathon or head off to dreamland after this. Remember, “we only breathe for so long,” so push yourself and do your best in all your endeavors, but always give yourself a break and allow yourself to truly breathe.
