Heya everyone!
The dry and humid weather of Hyderabad has made my skin very itchy and flaky, So in an effort to keep that eternal summer suppleness and soft dewy skin I went about creating my own body scrubs which not only buffs away the dry patches but also leaves your skin feeling silky smooth and moisturised! Here is a very easy way to make your own body scrubs - as thick and as good as you want it to be :)1. Gram Flour Body Scrub - You must have heard of gram flour body packs, today we will discuss about the scrub that has all the good benefits of pack in addition to scrubbing benefits.
What you'll require -
- 2 big spoons of gram flour (besan)
- 1 spoon curd
- 1 spoon oats
- A pinch of turmeric
- Milk to make the required consistency
How to use & benefits - Mix all the ingredients to make a thick paste. Apply the mixture evenly on your body, leave it on for 10-15 minutes. Pull in your favorite Bath Gloves (The Body Shop) and wet in water, rub down the paste in gentle circular motions. Once done, rinse off and follow with a moisturising body lotion. This 2-in-1 body pack and scrub removes tan, dead skin cells and adds glow to the skin.
2. Lemon Body Scrub - Lemon is helpful not only for the outer skin but inner system as well. Pour a tea spoon of lemon juice with a tea spoon of honey in a glass of water, and drink it at least twice a day. This will help in beating the summer heat and shedding off some calories. For skin, follow this recipe to get rid of suntan and flakiness.
What you require -
- 1 spoon of lemon juice
- 2 big spoons of granular sugar
- 1 spoon of coconut oil
How to use and benefits - Mix all the ingredients to form a paste. Scrub your arms and legs using this mixture for 3-4 minutes, before rinsing off with water. Clear off the remaining stickiness using a body wash, followed by a SPF body lotion to save the skin from harmful sun rays in morning. Use this scrub weekly thrice. This will help in lightening skin tone and reducing flakiness giving a softer and healthier looking skin.
3. Coffee Body Scrub - Coffee has been used for centuries as a natural cellulite fighting and skin firming ingredient. Almost all firming lotions out there have coffee extract as one of the ingredients + a whole load of other bad ingredients; toxic stuff like parabens, unsafe dyes and scents that you wouldn’t want to be near let alone put on your skin. Coconut oil is a fantastic natural moisturizing lotion. It is anti-aging, is an acne fighter, non-comedogenic and will not clog your pores. Together, the coconut oil and coffee grinds are an amazing all-natural firming and skin softening therapy at home mask.
What you require -
- 2 tablespoons ground organic coffee
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- Enough melted coconut oil/olive oil/sweet almond oil to make the mixture into a thick paste!
How to use - Wet your hands slightly and begin to scrub your entire body in a circular motion, starting with your feet and ankles and working your way up to your neck. The action of scrubbing and massaging your body is brilliant for your blood circulation! Once you've scrubbed your entire body, turn on the shower and wash away all the residue. You'll emerge from the shower absolutely glowing, feeling invigorated and with skin as soft as a baby!
I have been using these body scrubs on alternate days and pretty loving my skin lately - tan free, smooth, glowing and no dryness. This scrub is very effective in treating cellulites and giving a firmer skin. Apply the scrub daily for two weeks, then continue once or twice a week to maintain your natural glow. This post is inspired by Rewardme's post- Homemade DIY Beauty Products.
