Bangalore is beaming & boasting a new Beer culture from a while now, you guessed right, it is the Micro-breweries which are popping up everywhere in town to cater to the beer loving Bangaloreans. All have their favourites when it comes them, I have my favourite brews at all different breweries I have visited. Read on... I'll get to my favourite at District 6 soon 🙂 .
This was my first visit to this very beautifully done up microbrewery in town. A visit here was long due, which unintentionally used to just get passed on for laters. Now thanks to the metro station being a small distance away from where I live & a stones throw away from District 6 got me here without complaining about the traffic issues of Bangalore.
A bunch of us met up on a cool September Sunday afternoon to get a taste of the "Sizzler Bites" festival that's been on at District 6 from a few weeks.
District 6 is housed right next to Orion Mall and as you walk in the lovely outdoor seating they have to offer with open doors will transport you to places in Europe.. just that the cobblestone streets with people enjoying the afternoon sun on lawns are missing 😀. Along with some outdoor seating they have loads of space inside with the brewery equipment as a backdrop in places.
Lots of private seating rooms n areas too to choose from & lots of tables around the a large bar in the centre. The whole unit is spread on the ground floor.
Their walls are filled with interesting woodwork & it seems to add its own charm to the space. The staff is quite friendly & lets you enjoy the food & time there without bothering you constantly. Their menu is vast & has loads interesting options including a lot of German fare.
We got ourselves a sampler of their beers to get started.. they had 5 out of their 6 beers available as they ran out of one the previous night being a Saturday night..
For some reason everyone around the table loved the Radler except for one who opted for their strong larger. Radler was truly love at first sip, very refreshing with fruity hints 😬.. light & smooth just like a cider.. perfect for an afternoon party.. !!
We tried lots from their Sizzler bites menu. The table was abuzz with chatter & discussions around food & constant clicks of the camera's as the food arrived. We happily guzzled the beer along side loads of food being served on Sizzler plates.
Everyone loved the food but I would have preferred some more spice & salt in the Indian Sizzler bites like - the Coorg pepper pandi, the beef sukha & Andhra Spiced mushrooms as the spice would have been a perfect marriage with the beers.
My personal favourites were the sizzling veg dumplings (corn & spinach stuffing) served with spicy sauce & chilli soy, very delectable 😋. The cheese, veggie stuffed tandoori aloo blew my socks off.. 😬. Also the Wok tossed "Chilli Basil Chicken" was delightful. The favourites among the vegetarians were the - "Dahi Kebab's with Walnut & Mint", delicate hung yogurt cutlets with some crushed walnuts & mint smothered with bread crumbs & fried.
We also tried a platter of German breads (soft & freshly baked 😋) which was served with 3 different dips - beer butter, mustard & pesto.. 😬😋
Their "Sizzler bite festival" is on till the end of september 2017 .. 😀!! Something you don't wanna miss now do you, when all this food can be paired with brilliant brews by their Brewmaster..!!! Priced at 325/- -395/- INR.
Do not forget to end your meal with their Raspberry Cheesecake.. the best I have had in Bangalore 😋! I'm drooling as I type this out 😌!! There were lots of likes around the table for their sizzling brownie served with hot chocolate sauce & a scoop of ice-cream.. but personally for me the cheesecake did the trick 😀!!
In all it was a beautiful relaxed afternoon, filled with fun, food & beer.. 🙂 You know where to head to for a gala time if you are in that part of Bangalore (Malleshwaram) & you are craving for some fresh brews & quality food.
