Discovering New Korean Snacks from SnackBoom at XY Hotel Bugis | Unboxing & Tasting Review

By Ireviewuread

It's been quite sometime since I did a snack/ food post. The last time I did such a video it was on a Japanese mystery snack bag I purchased from Iroha Mart. I even did a fun taste test with my boyfriend of that time. You can check out that blog posts here and video here.

Thanks to SnackBoom and XY Hotel Bugis, I am once again back to trying out new snack at new places. This time I'm unboxing and tasting the contents of a Korean Snack Subscription box. I mean, that's the best way to spend a staycation right? Opening surprises and eating them all.

Do watch the full video for the taste test and other exciting edits.

SnackBoom October 2018 Box - WannaOne Goodies!

For Snack Boom's October 2018 Box, first 100 subscribers will get exclusive WannaOne stickers. They are so cute! However, let's focus on the Korean Snacks now. Since there's no English names on the labels, I'm going to briefly go through what's inside the box:

You can see my full reaction and tasting test in the video.

I'm sure you've also noticed a background change in the video. That's because I'm filming the video at this lovely boutique hotel at Kampong Glam.

XY Hotel Bugis

XY Hotel Bugis is a boutique hotel that features eccentric art pieces and modern technology. The hotel features assorted pieces from a ladder that hung haphazardly off the ceiling to various art works from young Singaporean artists. Rattan chairs and many eccentric furniture could be seen dispersed across the three story building, a sight to behold.

Aside from the first class service and dazzling decor, a humble bistro also sits in the vicinity of the hotel. It features delicious delicacies from lasagna to Onsen Egg Dish. Right above the dining area, an outdoor glass pool illuminates natural light into the hotel. The pool is a great way to relax and enjoy some privacy at the heart of Singapore.

The unique factor of XY Hotel Bugis would be the beautiful paintings in each room. Each room feature a different painting that was hand painted by young Sinagporean artist. I've chosen to stay in The Rooster Room for I fell in love with the windows next to the beautiful rooster painting.

The Rooster Room

Inspired by the windows facing the street, the artist, Deborah Loh, painted this in commemoration of the Thieves' market near Sungei Road. The rooster is a representation of the chickens that was always in that area.

Upon closer inspection, I like how the painting features little details like an overturned buzz lightyear, teddy bear and even some misplaced extension chords. It's the tiny details that frames the painting.

You can book this room here.
