Day 5 : Fresh Fruit Smoothie #BalmainBeauty

By Balmainbeauty @BalmainBeauty
If you follow me on Instagram or Twitter you may have read, looked at a picture of my Day 1 Fresh Fruit Smoothie (18th January 2014) - yes I know 18 day's into a new year is not an ideal start but in my defence I was away on holiday and despite eating yummy home-cooked meal's every night that I didn't make, Nachos, Fish and Chip's were consumed for a couple of lunches as well as a Subway.

One of my New Year's Resolution's is to eat and drink healthier, hopefully making a fresh fruit smoothie daily will give me the Vitamin's I need because I don't take daily Vitamin tablet's.

So if you haven't guessed by now I'm lazy when it comes to eating my 5 a day of fruit and vegetable's. I know it's not healthy to avoid vegetables but the veggies I dislike the most happen to be Green one's except: Baby Brussel Sprout's, Spinach and Kale.

Day 5 : Fresh Fruit Smoothie #BalmainBeauty
Today's Day 5 since I started this health kick, that's not to say that I haven't eaten two Muesli bar's and a late lunch of McDonald's but a fresh juice/smoothie will hopefully fill me up until the morning because I ate the McDonald's at 4pm and I don't want to make myself dinner tonight.

On Day 1, 2, 3 and 4 I made a mixed berry smoothie which I bought from a local Berry Farm called Julian's but today I decided to buy fresh fruit and make a smoothie with different ingredient's. Today's smoothie is: Carrot's, Apple's, Orange's, Banana, Lemon and Ice and the rest of the 1kg mixed berries about 1 and a 1/2 cup's of raspberries, blueberries, strawberries and boysenberries.

Day 5 : Fresh Fruit Smoothie #BalmainBeauty
Ingredient's

1 ripe Banana cut into pieces

4 ripe Apple's cut into halves (apple core and seed's removed)
5 ripe Orange's [for the juice]
1/2 Cup of Cold Filtered Water
1 Orange [for the pulp only]
1/2 a Lemon [juice only]
1 and 1/2 cup's of Raspberries, Boysenberries, Strawberries and Blueberries
No added Sugar

First I cored the Apple's and cut the Apple's into quarter's (skin on), then I cut the Carrots into small pieces, cut the banana into small pieces and added everything to the blender along with the fresh orange juice, then I added 1/2 a fresh lemon juice and the leftover mixed berries packet which wasn't much.

Put the lid on your blender and whizz on 3 for up to 30 second's. Add Ice cubes and whizz on the Ice crushing setting for a bit, if you don't have the ice-crush setting then whack it on 2 for the desired length of time - because I like my smoothies to have a bit of texture to them, I added orange pulp and the apple's, banana and carrot's are in tiny pieces in the smoothie, if you want it smooth, whizz longer.

I made enough of this Smoothie to drink a glass to fill me up and also for probably another two glasses, it'll keep in the fridge for a couple of day's so I have enough to last me until Saturday morning. I was that lazy this morning beig my first day back at work [after 3 week's holiday] that I decided I'd rather a bit more time in bed so that's why I didn't make and drink the smoothie this morning.

From tomorrow morning I'm going to enjoy a smoothie before going to work and eat a normal breakfast of either vegemite on toast, or a bowl of low fat yogurt with a bit of fresh fruit on top, or a bowl of Special K. In winter I'm still planning to drink the smoothie daily but I'll probably be eating Porridge with a banana sliced on top. I know it's only Day 5 but I feel terrific. Fresh blended fruit agrees with me. I really want to keep going and making up my own smoothie recipe's.

Since starting this daily morning routine I've not made one cup of coffee and I've had no side-effect's and no craving's for coffee - not that I'm a big coffee drinker but I do like one or two cup's per day from my new NescafeDulce Gusto Coffee Machine but I haven't given up coffee for good I assure you.

I drank a Mixed Berry Smoothie with the packet of fresh berry fruit from the berry farm Day's 1 to 4 but today was the day I decided to use fresh fruit and I used up the remainder of the berry farm packet.
