I tried my first powdered cleanser/exfoliator thanks to Dermalogica. I was not quite sure what to expect from it; I have not spent much effort looking into this format of exfoliator much before, though I have heard of it in passing before in the hip apothecary indie skincare world. To see this from a huge brand name like Dermalogica is very exciting. I am a big fan of Dermalogica skincare so I was very willing and eager to try out this new release from them.
“Could something with such a powerful ingredient list truly be gentle enough to use daily on my occasionally sensitive, dry skin?”
“Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant is a truly unique rice-based enzyme powder that micro-exfoliates dulling debris and instantly leaves the skin noticeably smoother and brighter. The powder formula activates upon contact with water, releasing papain, salicylic acid and rice actives to accelerate cell renewal. Bearberry, aspergillus, grapefruit and licorice evens skin tone. A soothing blend of green tea, ginkgo and colloidal oatmeal calms inflammation (Dermstore).”
From my own understanding this very fancy, cruelty-free exfoliator is a very effective skin detoxifier and exfoliator that helps in protecting and repairing skin from environmental pollution. While I do exfoliate my skin every day, I chose mainly simple formulations that usually consist of one “active” ingredient that does the exfoliating. The question I had about this product was could something with such a powerful ingredient list truly be gentle enough to use daily on my occasionally sensitive, dry skin?
Yes, yes it could. I was quite surprised how much I enjoyed the Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant; I have been using it now for nearly three weeks and I think it is quite lovely. I am not sure why I am surprised that I enjoy it so much, seeing as I am currently obsessed with their special cleansing gel, so much so that I am nearly completely out. With using the Daily Microfoliant consistently my skin just looks and feels cleaner, brighter and over all less congested. I do not want to mislead anyone to think that this product should be used for the treatment of acne, because I do not believe that at all. However, what I mean by less congested is the mild clogging of pores that comes with frequent use of cosmetics and spending time out of doors has gone, which can make the skin look dull and what I call “gunky”, which is having clogged pores and light white heads on the surface of the skin that never seem to dissipate.
I have really enjoyed this exfoliator and I believe it to be beneficial for the conditions of all skin types. If you are in the market for a new daily exfoliator do not make the mistake of passing by this one.
