Crowdsourcing Sailors - for Better Or Worse

"Crowdsourcing" is one of those new techno-terms, referring to information assembled from lots of often anonymous people, typically done online. Think Wikipedia. Or in a more low-tech way, imagine standing at the back of a crowded yacht club bar listening to twenty simultaneous conversations about the best anchorage nearby. If you synthesized all that information and allowed opinions to counteract or supplement each other, and emerged with a clear vision, you'd have crowdsourcing. In one sense sailors have always done this - but you had to be there in person and couldn't gain from all the information flowing through yacht clubs everywhere. Now you can.
