Happy Father’s Day to all who are celebrating! I’m headed out with my folks later for hi-tea after an incredibly busy week – I’m so looking forward to that later :)
I usually gift my Dad fragrance, shirts or leather accessories for special occasions – he is allergic to fragranced products so skincare and shave balms are out of the question for him; he wears whatever fragrance or EDTs on his shirt pockets and collars instead. I love that the Men’s Collection has been inspired by classic perfumery - among masculine fragrances, Sandalwood, Myrrh are 2 of my favourites, as well as Vetiver (how lovely if there was a Vetiver line!).
Indian Sandalwood is a classic fragrance and revered by many for the longest time; the Indian province of Mysore in Karnataka is reputed to produce the best quality sandalwood (they have prized sandalwood forests which are the subject of intense scrutiny and security even). Sandalwood fragrances are loved for their rich, woody character. In the Crabtree & Evelyn Indian Sandalwood Collection, sandalwood is blended with notes of spicy cypress, bergamot, lavender and vetiver.
Myrrh is the gathered “tears” of tree resin and once prized for its weight in gold. Myrrh, like sandalwood, is also one of the oldest known perfumery ingredients and its aroma was believed to carry prayers to gods, enhance meditation and purify the air. To date, the many in the South Asian continent use myrrh-scents for prayers (the Hindus refer to it as dhoop usually).
In the Crabtree & Evelyn Moroccan Myrrh Collection, Myrrh is blended with sparkling verdant notes of bergamot, petitgrain, black pepper and cardamom.
West Indian Lime is said to be unsurpassed in its captivating scent which is supposed to be bright and uplifting. In this collection, West Indian Lime is blended with a cocktail of zesting notes of fresh spices and woods.
