While Michael and I were in Baltimore this past weekend, I found my safe place in a glass mug of warm apple cider from a little place in Federal Hill called Hersh’s Pizza & Drinks. I mentioned them in my last post where I talked about my favorite food from our Baltimore trip, but I feel like this mug of yum is worth mentioning a second time.
Their cider comes boozy, but if you’re either not into the booze or your pregnant like me, just ask for it without. The drink is heaven in a mug. Seriously. It’s a super warm, ultra fresh apple cider like you like it, but instead of just stopping at apples and cinnamon, they add all kinds of stuff like fragrant orange zest, star anise, cloves, cinnamon and black pepper. It’s interesting, aromatic, crisp, warming and comforting.
I came home on Monday wishing that I had some tucked away somewhere in a Thermos, but no. No such luck. But this got me thinking about other yummy warm drinks that I can make in the comfort of my own kitchen, without having to pay the airfare to get back up to Baltimore. I mean, how ridiculous would that be? Hi, I need a round trip flight just for a mug of cider?
Anyway, I decided to check out Foodie.com and make a collection of my favorite/best looking warm and cozy winter drinks to share with everyone.
