Organic is the way to go forward! If you have been following my blog, you would know about my quest for organic everything. I really hope, that we are able to make all the healthy changes in our lifestyle, to make the earth a better place and also coz i really hope that we leave a healthier and a happier planet for our kids and the generations to follow. And if you actually work into it, you'll be amazed to see the number of brands working on organic stuff now.

I have a little boy who turns 'BIG ONE' next month and as a parent it is such a fun job dressing up the babies. So before the little one came to this world, we planned about his coming home outfit and did quite a bit of clothes shopping. I was not fully versed about organic cotton when i had my daughter six years ago, but i made sure that all her initial year clothing was made out of cotton. But this time i made sure that we were ready with organic cotton onesies, vests and blankets.

Why is organic cotton important for babies?
Well, frankly i am sure all of you have been reading and learning about organic productions and know how important they are in today's world. But organic clothing is truly super important for babies. A baby's skin is much thinner, fragile and less oily than an adult's, they also have less melanin which protects you from sunburns. Choosing organic cotton for your baby cuts down on the toxins that his skin can absorb, as organic cotton is the one grown not in the conventional way, thus use of pesticides is restricted and other natural ways like crop rotation, hand picking of weeds etc are used for a good crop. Though organic clothing can be a bit more expensive than the conventional cotton clothing, but when you compare the benefits of the two- i am sure you'll realise that the money that you spent on organic clothing was worth every dime.

Even if you cannot lay hands on organic cotton clothes, make sure you dress your baby in cotton clothes, as they are mild for their skin, save them from the sun and keep them cool as babies do not sweat much, so cotton clothing helps their skin breathe.

So, when i was looking for some organic clothing for my baby boy, i happened to learn about a local Hong Kong baby clothes brand by the name of Cigogne Bébé. Yeh, i couldn't pronounce it the first time either! So here's how you do it- it sounds like "See-Gone Beh-Beh". Cigogne is a french word for Stork- the long necked bird, which in stories brings the new borns to their families (how very apt right!).

They specialise in cotton clothing for new borns and babies, both organic and non-organic. Their organic range consists of naturally coloured cotton (and yes, i also didn't know that cotton comes naturally coloured as well) and in the non-organic one they use fabric dyes that contain gentle chemicals which are also environment friendly.

All of their products are designed keeping baby's comforts in mind like they use resin snap buttons which are made out of recycled plant material and do not rust, so are allergen free (loved this feature), no tags on inner wear, gentler dying process and much more.

Their clothing is truly fun, with wonderful use of colours and patterns. The designs are very fashionable, modern and contemporary and the texture of clothes is to die for, it's that soft and brilliant. They have loads of collections and categories to shop from and some perfect gift sets, if you are looking for some cute presents. My son has been feeling quite comfy in their clothing and i have loads of fun dressing him up in their colourful clothing.
