Colourful Countryside at Calke Abbey

A few weeks ago just before Halloween, on one of those oddly mild beautiful autumn days we headed over to Calke Abbey, a National Trust Property about half an hours drive from us. The house and the gardens are gorgeous and with the changing colours of autumn, even more spectacular. There are some great walks around the grounds as well, that take in the deer park and various lakes/ponds and you can discover an abundance of wildlife too. The kitchen garden grows so much lovely fruit and veg – and you can purchase some of it too which is a bonus – we picked up some great green tomatoes and some chillies on our most recent visit. Here are some of our pics from our latest stroll around the gardens and grounds.
