Coffee Table Staples

By Jennydurbin985 @Jennydurbin85
Hi Everybody! Sorry this post is a bit late. The weekend was a wash out, i've come down with tonsilitis and I had to make some very important decisions about what I wanted to do with he-who-makes-me-feel-rubbish-but-good-in-a-messed-up-way. Who wants a guy that doesn't reply to your texts, that only sees you when HE wants and on HIS terms, that says that they 'can't be doing with questions' about whether you're the only girl he's seeing? The decision was...BIN.
So here's my promised post about my favorite coffee table books. A few didn't make the cut - will name these at the bottom. But I must be honest, and only name the ones that I read all the time, and these definitely count:

True Whit - Whitney PortTeen Vogue HandbookSecrets of StylistsLauren Conrad StyleEverything is going to be OkayWhat Shall I Wear Today? By Fifi LapinStyle Diaries - World Fashion from Berlin to TokyoI will admit that I bought the two celebrity books as a massive fan of 'The Hills' and 'The City'. But besides from this, Port's book is a fabulous guide to decorating your home (you should see her jewelry collection and bedding, a princess' dream), your body, diet, beauty and style. Conrad's book is a little more restrained, just focussing on dressing for your body shape, wardrobe staples and make up tips. I love Conrad's style, which is so elegant and clean, juxtaposed with Port's often eccentric, boho bright style. To tie in with these is the Teen Vogue Handbook, an absolute must for any body who wants to go into fashion journalism - it features Amy Astley, the founding editor of Teen Vogue, and interviews/diaries with interns, fashion contributors, models and designers such as Stella McCartney, Phillip Lim and Karl Lagerfeld. I really like it also because it's like a collage, with so many photos and illustrations packed into it.
Style Diaries is what it says on the tin - lots of different girls all over the world, what they're wearing and where they get their items from. I will admit - I wouldn't dress like some of them, I'm not brave enough, however it is fun to look and seek ideas from them. I LOVE Fifi Lapin - possibly the most fabulous bunny in the world! You can see her blog at fifi-lapin.blogspot.com. The hand drawn images in the book are beautiful. Secrets of Stylists is a great book by the fashion director of US Weekly, and is about how to make it as a stylist, do's and don'ts, how to work fittings, what to have in your kit, and the best bit, the celebrity faux pas!
Finally, Everything is Going to be Okay is a beautiful little book. It's artwork and photos taken with inspirational messages to get you through the days when you feel down. It's really lovely, I don't have anything else to say about it other than buy it and carry it around in your handbag!
Admirable mentions: Seventeen Guide to Style, Unseen Vogue, What to Wear When.
What do you think are the best coffee table fashion books and why?
