Coconut Oil Hair Treatment

$9.95

A week or two ago on Twitter I posed a question to my followers "What is the best leave in/rinse out treatment for hair?" The response I received was Coconut Oil.
I've heard lots of good things about Coconut Oil however I've never been convinced of trying it. I've always been drawn to salon or chemist brand products not natural or organic haircare. So I did a little research and went off to my local health food store to pick up a jar. At $9.95 I thought it was worth a go.
Coconut Oil has been used in India for centuries for maintaining and promoting health of hair. It can be massaged into the scalp to help reduce effects of Dandruff and Eczema or applied to the lengths of the hair to promote shin and softness.
There are two ways in which I have applied the treatment. Firstly quick application, apply coconut oil to the scalp and/or lengths of your hair and leave for one or two hours. Give the scalp a quick massage before washing then shampoo twice and condition as normal.
The second way I have applied the treatment and I believe to see the best results, leave the coconut oil on overnight. You will need to put an old pillowcase on your pillow or place an old towel down so product doesn't damage your bedding. In the morning, shampoo hair twice, then condition as normal.
My final thoughts on the product? The treatment won't give you the same silky soft feeling that many salon/chemist brand treatments give due to the high percentages of silicons often contained in these products but what it will do is give you is very nourished and lightweight feeling hair.It doesn't feel heavy and limp which is why I have enjoyed using this product so much. If you have trouble with scalp conditions or you are after a natural alternative hair treatment give coconut oil a shot. Coconut Oil is readily available at most health food stores and some supermarkets.
