Cocktails for National Coffee Week

By Clo Hutch @lashesoflife
We all know I like a good coffee, especially recently with my love being declared for Covent Garden Grind (recent post here) – yumm their lattes are so tasty!  Well this week is actually National Coffee Week (11-17th April). A whole week dedicated to the bitter sweet, brown stuff so many of us Londoners include as a staple part of our diets – what would a week be without a one? So to celebrate such a fabulous invention, what better way than combining two of my favorite things – coffee and cocktails. Anyone? One of my friends and I have selected three coffee cocktails which are available in London, to be on our must-do list, which we wanted to share with you all to help you celebrate coffee the way it should be…in style.  Handy Nightcap – Cocktail Trading Company  Bourbon, Cold Drip Coffee, Sweet Vermouth, Chartreuse & Terry’s Chocolate Orange Bitters Handy Nightcap The team at the Cocktail Trading Company are known for their visually stunning and expertly created cocktails, and their ‘Handy Nightcap’ cocktail offers a tasty combination of coffee, bourbon and chocolate orange, all served on it’s own turf of grass, with golf ball in tow. How cool? At only £9, it’s reasonably priced for the London cocktail scene, and is also available at their new spot on Brick Lane. Voodoo Mama – Barrio Bars Plantation Overproof Rum, Koko Kanu, Coffee Liqueur, Pineapple & Lemon voodoo mama4 This coffee cocktail is part of Barrio Brixton’s drinks menu, which has been specially curated in partnership with Salts of the Earth, offering an array of South American inspired delights. The ‘Voodoo Mama’ cocktail is made with two kinds of rums, coffee liqueur and fruit, and at only £8.50, if you’re in the area you have to go! Ratification – The Savoy Beaufort Bar Martini Rosato, Reprosada Tequila, Illegal Mezcal, Strawberry, Ratifia, Coffee Liqueur & Chipotle Bitters Ratification The Savoy’s Beaufort Bar offers this stunning ‘Ratification’ cocktail. Apparently one to be sipped not slurped, this divine looking cocktail is garnished with a delectable coffee bean filled cone. Close to work, on The Strand, this cocktail may be a little bit on the higher end of the budget at £16, but for the experience the Savoy would offer, I think I’m definitely going to have to pop along one evening for a cheeky beverage. What is your favorite coffee cocktail? Chloe xx
