It is also time to start opening up tiny doors on advent calendars and this year, for me, that means changing my nail colour depending on what I find behind that door.
So, behind door number 1 on the Ciate Advent Calendar is Cupcake Queen 011, which is a very bright pink and not something I would have picked out myself...
I'm a nude or pale pink varnish girl normally and tend to play it very safe so wearing this one has been an experience.
I have had quite a few comments on this shade as it's so noticeable and also clashes with absolutely everything in my wardrobe. Some friends loved it and some were indifferent. I also got a horrified grimace from The Boy....
Only one coat was needed to get an opaque look with this formula, which I was really pleased about. However, I didn't use a top coat and have found that it chipped at the tips really quickly. I'll use a top coat with the next one and see if that improves the staying power as, no matter what shade you pick, you want the varnish to last more than an hour and a half!
All in all it was a fun shade to wear, but I don't think I'll be reaching for it too often!
