Chocolate Sherbet

By Ritu @ritzchocs
We are well into summers and its vacation time !!!!
Chocolate Sherbet
To beat the heat  its time for some ice creams, sorbets, sherbets and popsicles !!Have just discovered that some popsicles can be made with vegetable and fruit juices with a dash of booze which I will be posting soon!!!
"This is not sorbet it is sherbet"had to explain nth time to my friend! The difference is that the sorbet is made with sugar syrup and sherbet is made with milk or egg whites.
This favorite recipe of mine has been taken from here. Its favorite because one- it is as good as an ice cream but has no cream(you know little less calories than ice cream is a BIG consolation !!) two- its very chocolaty and three-its super easy to make!!!!
Chocolate Sherbet
Chocolate Sherbet
2 cups (500ml) milk (whole, low, or non-fat)
1/2 cup (100g) sugar
pinch of salt
1/2 cup (50g) unsweetened cocoa powder
4 ounces (115g) bittersweet or semisweet chocolate, chopped
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
Warm 1 cup milk ,sugar, salt and cocoa powder.Bring it to a boil while whisking, simmer for a few seconds.
Remove from heat ,add chocolate and vanilla .When the chocolate melts add remaining milk.
Puree it once in a blender because the taste will be a bit grainy.
Chill in refrigerator for a few hours or churn in your ice cream maker.
Enjoy!!!
