Pulled Pork Eggs Benedict | w/ two poached eggs, 4hr slow pressure cooked pork shoulder, housemade rich chives hollandaise, fennel green apple salad served on sourdough | $18The dish that I ordered was the Pulled Pork Eggs Benedict and I remember having this at John Smith Cafe and I absolutely loved it so I had high HIGH expectations. I am also a self- confessed pulled pork lover and eggs benedict lover soo I guess seeing this dish on the menu was a given that I would order it. This dish was a major let down because the fact that it was very sweet! There was some sort of jam or relish spread underneath the pulled pork and the flavours did not work very well with the savoury hollandaise sauce and pulled pork. The pulled pork was very tender which was a plus and the poached eggs were perfectly poached with a runny yolk. The fennel green apple salad was very fresh and gave a refreshing touch to the dish.
Sweet Corn Fritters | w/ avocado, baby spinach, poached egg, housemade tomato chilli relish & black truffle oil | $15The Sweet corn fritters had a very nice and distinct taste of sweet corn and there was a very generous amount of avocado and tomato chilli relish which gave the dish a nice spicy and tangy hit to it. This dish was quite big and generous in portion and it was probably more savoury than my pulled pork eggs benedict :P Overall, it was an enjoyable and satisfying dish.
There wasn't much service here at Chef's Palette, it is basically self serve- order and pay at the counter, find your own seat, get your own menu, water, cutlery etc. so don't expect top notch service when you get here but there isn't any. But at least the staff who brought our dishes to our table was friendly and bubbly. Overall, an average dining experience at Chef's Palette, I heard some reviews and comments that there savoury dishes are not a huge hit but there desserts are definitely worth trying so I'll definitely be back to try it!
